We’ve only been back on the Hill for a couple of weeks…(crazy I know) and already it seems like every day is a new deadline. From Study Abroad, to internships, and everything in between, it can seem like our minds are running in every direction imaginable. I know in the past few months there have been times where I’ve felt completely and utterly lost. How are we expected to plan our entire futures when were not even half way through college?! Well…the good thing is, YOU DON’T! Before the new-semester stress is in full-swing, here’s a few tricks to staying calm, cool, & collected during one of the most hectic times of the year.
1. Take a deep breath: Sounds easy…but it’s not. As hard as it is to sit down for a quick second and take a deep breath, it can honestly change your entire mood. So went the going gets tough and you feel like nothings going right, sit down, take a deep breath and remember that everything WILL BE OKAY!!
2. Take a break: Hours and hours of studying is never a bad thing, but after a while you stop retaining information and start checking Facebook…and Instagram…and Twitter…and then 30 minutes go by and you’ve done nothing. The best way to increase the amount of work you do is to take a break and take your mind off things for a little bit. Grab a smoothie (PB Protein smoothie from Cool Beans duh), go on a 20-minute Netflix binge, or just take a couple laps around the library. When you return you’ll be in a completely different mindset ready to tackle more work.
3. Talk to your BFF: After endless hours of boring studying, sometimes all you need it a quick chat with your BFF to lift your spirits. Get your mind off the horrible Chem test you have coming up and chat about the beautiful food Instagram accounts that your best friend is telling you to follow.
4. Ask for help: Its crazy how many resources we have at HC. Utilizing them will save you from an all-nighter the day before that huge paper’s due. The Writer’s Workshop can make the writer’s block you’re having disappear.
With these tips & tricks…your spring semester will be as stress-free as possible!!
