Winter break is fast approaching, and we all know what that means: endless exams, papers and problem sets. For some reason, it seems that every single professor here at Holy Cross has agreed to assign work due this week, so we should give #thanks for that (we’re all in this together??). The perfect playlist is a must in order to make these endless hours in Dinand bearable. I have carefully curated a “HOMEWORK” playlist, and I decided to share a few songs with you, my loyal readers, so that you too, can have fun while you study (lol).
-
“Beggin For Thread” Banks: “So I’ve got edges that scratch/ And sometimes I don’t get a filter.” Reassuring lyrics if you ask me, while you’re stuck in Dinand in your *cute* groutfit. Not everything is Instaworthy, and life certainly does not come with a filter.
-
“Octahate” Ryn Weaver: “Lost in the cracks of a landslide/ You saw me slipping on my blindside.” Yep, don’t worry if you get caught watching Netflix in the lib, everyone deserves a nice study break. Props to you for not returning to your room, shows your dedication to your studies.
-
“Why Georgia” John Mayer: “But all I feel’s alone/ It might be a quarter life crisis.” Yes, your mental breakdown in the library might just be a quarterlife crisis! But have no fear, John Mayer has been there and he gets you and what you’re going through. It will be okay!!
-
“On My Side” Leighton Meester: “We’re doing fine, let’s not leave it all behind.” Hello, remember that Leighton Meester is actually Blair Waldorf, and she’s telling you that we’re doing fine! Stuck in the lib and wondering what to do/ what your life has come to? Just ask yourself: WWBD (what would Blair do).
-
“Reflections” Misterwives. “I couldn’t ignore the faint possibility/ Of having hope in this insanity.” Ahhh yes, the ultimate song (it’s appropriate to listen to both in the library and while pregaming with your besties). Okay, but seriously, there is hope for you, for me, and for all of us! The light at the end of this tunnel is just weeks away… So, don’t lose sight of that in this “insanity” that is the Holy Cross workload.
-
“No Scrubs” TLC: “Always talkin’ about what he wants/ And just sits on his broke ass.” Yes, you’re not just talking about what you want dear friend, you are in the library #hustlin. Find comfort in the fact that you’re no scrub. GO GET IT.
-
“Headphones On” Matt Nathanson: “I feel invincible I’ve got my headphones on.” Preach it Nathanson. Listen to your music and just do your work, you’ve got this.
-
“Bad Intentions” Nikyee Heaton: “We can stay up here until we figure it out.” That is right, Dinand is 24/5, so take advantage of that….
-
“Crazy Stupid Life” My Crazy Girlfriend: No real inspirational lyrics here, definitely does not convince you stay in the library, but it’s super catchy and fun!!!!!
-
“I Believe” Basic Vacation: “I believe in me and you/ No matter what they put us through.” Don’t let those profs get you down. In the wise words of Taylor Swift: “The haters gonna hate, but I’m just gonna shake it off.”
-
“Better Than It Could Be” The Preatures: It gets better… UMMM, that is an understatement. In just a few days, you will be feasting with your fam. So just remember that while you’re eating your Ben and Jerry’s in your cubicle in Dinand.
-
“Dear Future Husband” Meghan Trainor: “Take me on a date/ I deserve a break.” She couldn’t have said it better!!!!!! Take this as personal advice from this sassy lady to leave the lib.
-
“Runaways” Betty Who: “We sneak out late after midnight. Yes…. we do!!!” Sneak out of the lib and grab a snack! Cool Beans is open until 1.
And in closing, I will leave you with a few wise words from my close and personal friend Justin Beiber: “Never say never.”
