Beyoncé Launches Hair Care Venture with Intriguing Teaser

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Howard chapter.

The celebrity’s celebrity, Beyoncé, is venturing into the beauty industry with an exciting new project.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday evening, the multi-Grammy award-winning songstress hinted at her upcoming brand, Cécred, through a captivating video announcement.

The caption of the post reads, “Hair is sacred. The journey begins Feb 20. Visit CECRED.COM.”

Although she didn’t divulge many specifics about the beauty line, what products would be released, and arguably most importantly the price, fans were still excited about what was to come from their favorite.

Last May, Beyoncé had hinted at the possibility of a haircare line in the works. Through a three-part Instagram post, she shared glimpses of her connection to hair care and the influences that led to her decision to enter the space.

Reflecting on her journey with hair, Beyoncé expressed her eagerness to carry forward her mother’s legacy and shared her excitement for what she has been working on.

As the hair care line is on the cusp of its public release, X, formerly known as Twitter, has been aflutter in anticipation. Some affirming Beyoncé’s upcoming presence in the industry and others expressing disapproval.

Despite naysayers about Beyoncé’s hair care knowledge, her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson has a known history of expertise in the field.

Back in Houston, Texas, Lawson owned a hair salon, Headliners, where she worked for many years. Sweeping in the shop was also Beyoncé’s first job before Destiny’s Child took off, according to the caption of her first peak at the line last year on Instagram

And, according to WWD sources, the hair care line not only serves as an homage to the former salon owner but she will be at the helm of it.

The tantalizing, yet vague, announcement didn’t give fans much to work with in terms of what to expect. Luckily, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office does.

According to the trademark application for “Cécred,” currently under examination, the brand plans to sell a plethora of things related to hair care.

Some items include hair care preparations, hair vitamins, electric hair styling tools, microneedle dermal rollers and gua shua tools, jewelry boxes, cosmetic bags and cases, hair brushes and combs, pillowcases, turbans, and sleep masks.

For information about the singer’s hair care line, fans were directed to the Cécred website to enter their emails for updates.
