Major: Art History and Media & Society
Minor: French
JR: Why did you choose to come to Hobart and William Smith Colleges?
TH: I knew I wanted to go to Hobart and William Smith the first time I visited campus because I felt a sense of comfort. I knew it would be easy for me to call HWS my home for the next four years of my life. The small class sizes and strong community really pulled me in. Also, I knew it would be possible to study all of my interests and be able to turn these interests into my desired career. In the end I knew HWS would make me happy, which is 100% true!
JR: How do you feel being a Co-President and Editor & Chief of the Her Campus HWS Chapter so far? What do you expect to accomplish in the future with the Chapter?
TH: I just canât wait until everything is up and running and we get into the swing of things. This is an amazing opportunity and I just want our chapter to succeed! I really hope the students on campus are just as excited as I am. This will be a great way for students who are interested in writing as a career to get involved with a national organization, which I am very proud to be a part of.
JR: What are your plans after college? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
TH: My dream after college is to live in New York City (hopefully with an adorable apartment and great roommate) and work for either a magazine or in fashion PR. The summer before I came to college I was an intern at Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Headquarters in NYC and it was an amazing experience that made me realize what I want to do in my future. My whole life I have only been an hour away from the city so it has pretty much always been my dream to live there. In my eyes itâs the perfect place to be after graduation because there it has so much to offer with an abundance of opportunity, especially for the type of career I plan to pursue!
JR: So, I know you were recently accepted to study abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France for the Fall 2015 semester, which is very exciting! Why did you choose to go there and what are you most excited to do?
TH: There are so many things Iâm excited to do I canât just pick one! I canât wait to travel around Europe in general because I never have before and see all the typical touristy stuff. The part of me that loves art history CANNOT wait to go to museums, especially The Louvre. Iâm just excited to be immersed in a totally new culture and eat amazing food. I decided to go to France because I have always taken French since I was in middle school and I have gradually fell in love with French culture. The Aix abroad program at HWS also applies to both my majors and my minor so I will be receiving important credits while becoming fluent in French!

TH: Why did you choose to come to Hobart and William Smith Colleges?
JR: To be honest, I actually applied early decision to another school and was kind of sent in a whirlwind after being denied, and had to revisit the other schools that I applied to. I visited HWS a few times, but after coming to campus on accepted students day I knew that it was a school that would both challenge me and allow me to grow as a student. I could not be happier with my decision in the end.
TH: How do you feel being a Co-President and Editor & Chief of the Her Campus HWS Chapter so far? What do you expect to accomplish in the future with the Chapter?
JR: I am super excited to finally be in the process of actually getting the chapter up and running at HWS. I think that a Her Campus chapter on campus is a great opportunity for students to be able to publish articles on a national level that are both serious and fun, as well as an awesome way for students to be able to read about articles pertaining to our campus. I think that the club is really going to offer interesting articles for students to read and discuss on campus. I hope that we will be able to run a successful club in the future and that students will consistently go to our Her Campus chapter for their news on campus and have it be an inclusive chapter site that everyone wants to read on.
TH: I know you will be going âabroadâ to Washington D.C. next semester. What are you most excited to do while you are off campus?
JR: I am definitely most excited for the internship aspect of my program. I have applied for several different internships, one of which I will participate in four days a week while studying in Washington D.C. … My top choice is to work as an intern on the hill!
TH: What are your plans after college? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
JR: After college I really hope to be living and working in Washington D.C. My dream job is to work for CNN as a political analyst and researcher. I think that it would be fascinating to pursue a job involving politics in the media. Anyone who has met me knows that I love to talk about what is going on in the world and debating world issues.
