January: the time of year we miss the season-limited Starbucks Gingerbread Latte. I always wanted to make my own gingerbread latte at home to fill this loss, but the recipes I see always have too many steps and are complicated. So I came up with a super easy gingerbread latte recipe that is especially delicious in this cold winter season. Have fun!Â
Â
Ingredients
- ginger
- milk
- coffee beans (powder is fine too)
- sugar
- Â Cinnamon powder
- Â Nutmeg Powder
- (Optional: Whipped cream)
Â
Recipe (* the ratio that is shown is the ratio in weight)
Making the ginger syrup
- Peel the ginger, slice it thinÂ
- Add ginger slices and sugar in the ratio 1:1 of in a pot
-  Fill the pot with water until the water level is right above the ginger slices
- Sprinkle whatever amount of cinnamon powder and nutmeg powder in the pot you like. For reference: In 400g ginger syrup (weight includes the sliced ginger), 20 sprinkles of cinnamon powder and 30 sprinkles of nutmeg powder.
- Cook it in medium heat for 30 minutes (stir it once in a while)
- Let it cool down
Â
Making the Gingerbread Latte
- make strong coffee (grinding the bean yourself is preferable)
- Add coffee and milk in a ratio of 1:2 (milk could be soy milk)
- Add ginger syrup so that the [ginger syrup:coffee:milk]Â ratio becomes 1:3:6
- Â (Optional Step: Make whipped cream and put it on top of the drink. It makes your drink much more delicious)
- Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg powder on top of the drink, and it’s done. Bon Appetite!
Â
Â
This recipe may take some time, but I guarantee you that this is easy and delicious. You can add more cinnamon and nutmeg powder if you find the drink is not satisfying enough. There is plenty of room for improvement! Hope you like this drink!
