If you read this title thinking I was talking about basketball, you are reading the wrong article. I am talking about Chi Omega’s annual philanthropy supporting Make-A-Wish foundation. Every year the fraternities, sororities, and some exhibitions of ISU’s campus put together dance routines to perform at the March Madness event. Year after year, participants take it to the extreme by creating dances with anywhere from 10-100+ people in it. March Madness is the biggest philanthropy on campus, and every year it gets more and more competitive. This year’s event took place on March 19, 2016. If you participated in March Madness, here are 33 thoughts you probably had that day
1. “This actually feels like Christmas morning. But better.”
2. “I’m ready to PAAARTAAAAAY.”
3. “Actually no. No, I am not ready. My entire body is too sore to move.”
4. “Practice in four minutes and I’m still in bed. Time to pop some Advil.”
5. “It looks freezing out. Better bundle up.”
6. “Okay it’s actually beautiful out and I regret these layers.”
7. “If we don’t absolutely kill this dance…look out.”
8. “I’ve only dedicated the past two months of my LIFE to this routine.”
9. “Regardless, it’s for the kids!”
10. “I rolled up to practice looking like a male. Glad everyone else does too… #Brotherhood!”
11. “I could do this dance in my sleep.”
12. “Today is the last day I will ever have to ‘pod.’ God bless and goodbye shin splints.”
13. “What if I forget the dance on stage in front of thousands? LOL”
14. “The best part is that if I screw up, they’ll get it on video too.”
15. “Fingers crossed my muscle memory helps me out here!”
16. “The past two years I danced in March Madness, I literally blacked out on stage from nerves.”
17. “Third times the charm?”
18. “One, Two, Three, Four, FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT.”
19. “My counting abilities are at an all time high right now.”
20. “Last practice is over, bless up.”
21. “Hair and makeup time…for 110 girls.”
22. “How do people wear fake eyelashes more than once a year?”
23. “It feels like I have a five pound weight on each eye.”
24. “You will be able to see these lashes from the back of the auditorium.”
25. “Group photo time. Let’s see everyone’s sorority squat abilities.”
26. “My legs are so shot. Please hurry this up.”
27. “Time to run to the Bone and sing obnoxiously for all of Bloomington-Normal to hear!”
28. “In this moment, this feels more like a cult than anything.”
29. “Everyone has arrived. Children laughing, people passing, sororities screaming their chants…”
30. “HEY, HOOOOOOO!”
31. “My stomach feels like it is eating itself with nerves. You’d think I’d be mentally stable since I’m doing this for my third year…I’m not.”
32. “Enough of this chant competition thing we’ve got going on, let’s get the show on the road. My voice hurts.”
33. “The show is starting. Time to sob at the story of the child from Make-A-Wish, give it our all on stage and hope for the best.”
Most importantly, we remember how amazing it feels to contribute to an event that will change a child’s life.
