I was so nervous to move into Tri-Towers because of all the bad things people would say about it. I didn’t really have a choice because when my roommate and I went to pick rooms there were no doubles left, except in Tri. I got to say that living in Tri is actually amazing contrary to what people say and here’s why.
1. The Food is Better: Don’t get me wrong Watterson has a variety of foods and it’s good, but Tri is better. They don’t have as much of a selection, but the food is fresher and cooked to order. They also have a different “bar” every night you can eat, such as gyro bar, fajita bar, etc. It is so good and you will never have to always have the same thing. I had wings the other night from there and it was so good! It fed my craving of Bdubs (but I still want Bdubs). Also, the lines are never long at Tri and you don’t have to wait out the door just to order food, which is really nice when you’re in a hurry and need to run.
2. Get To Know the Bus System: Since Tri is kind of a long walk to campus, we can ride the bus for free. There are so many bus lines, but people that live over in Tri probably take the bus more than people living in Watty. I think it’s nice because I was so nervous to ride the bus, not knowing where to get off. It’s really simple now and very convenient for when it’s cold, raining, or you just don’t feel like walking. Just remember to always get on the Redbird Express because I almost got on the Red line and would have ended up in downtown Bloomington.
3. Get to Know your Floor Better: Tri is so close together in rooms that it’s hard not to say hi to each other. I know on my floor we all hang out with each other, everyone leaves their door open, and we just walk in and start talking. We all have a group chat on snapchat and we have floor game nights and activities every week. It’s so nice being able to come back to your room and everyone is just so friendly and I love it. In watty, things are kind of sheltered off where you may not get that neighborly love because you are kind of hidden. Also, my R.A is the bomb! Her name is Kaylin and she makes living on this floor even better.
4. Less People: I rarely ever have to wait long for an elevator and it’s never usually crowded. I like that about Tri because I never have to worry about not getting on an elevator because it’s too full, unlike Watty. Another nice thing is that there are only 12 floors, so it doesn’t always stop at every floor. There have been times I have rode the elevator and it went straight to my floor and it was like one of my greatest accomplishments. *jokingly laughing*
5. Parking: For someone like me who pays to keep their car here, Tri is so convenient. The parking lot is right outside my hall and it’s nice when I come back from the weekend and have a lot of stuff to carry in. It’s also really nice too that I don’t have to walk far to drive to Wal-Mart or drive home. There are always a lot of parking spaces too so I have never had a trouble finding a place to park, which is a stress reliever.
Lots of love, Lacey
