From plaid to platform shoes, the 1980’s and 1990’s are known for their interesting style choices. Since then, there have been style trends that have stuck around and in some cases, left and then came right back. Within the past few decades, I am going to time travel back and see which trends have come full circle.
Scrunchies. This elastic hair contraption was created and made popular circa late 1980’s. You can find them in basically any design, color, and fabric. Because of its versatility you can wear a scrunchie several ways. You can wear one with a high pony tail, low pony tail or maybe braided. Even better, wear it like your favorite 90’s actress and put it in a half pony tail on the top of your head. Not sure when this trend came back, but by the looks of it, it is popular and here to stay.
Light Wash Jeans. After the period of light wash jeans in the 80’s and 90’s, you would really only see them on construction workers and hardly ever worn as a fashion statement. These became popular in the 80’s and were mostly worn at the belly button, loose fitting or with a bright colored belt. Luckily, people are not wearing them the 80’s way anymore. Light wash jeans have been sported in a few different styles including skinny, boyfriend, ripped, or cut off. These look great in any season and can be sported with most shoes. This is definitely a good fashion come back.
Doctor Martens. In the 90’s, Doctor Martins were a hit among grunge fashion wearers. The notoriously chunky boots with the signature yellow thread were usually paired with ripped tights and an oversized sweater. Although grunge wearers brought these shoes fame, they have come back into a whole new style. With just about every color out there along with designs, there is a good chance you can find a Doc Marten boot that will suit your personal style.
High-waist Pants. The mom jeans have definitely made a comeback within the past few years. Teens and young adults have found this trend to be popular. Whether it is a pair of shorts, pants or a skirt, you can find high waist bottoms in mostly every style. Besides what the critics think, it seems that this style trend will be here for a while.
Chokers. Some people wear them for Halloween, a themed occasion, or for their own everyday style. Chokers are mostly known as the twisted elastic that was first featured on the grunge, gothic crowd. However, this style can refer to any sort of necklace that fits closely to your neck. Chokers can be designed in several different ways, thus making it a trend that more than a certain crowd can pull off.
What will the next resurfacing trend be? Hopefully not jean suits.
