This year has been a whirlwind of new trends and some not so new…styles that we thought were WAY in the past are making their way back on the roster this season. Birkenstocks, Mom Jeans, and Doc Martens are just a few of the retrospective wardrobe staples that are coming back with a fashion force. Thrifting and raiding the back of Momâs closet (Holla!) has been the reoccurring actions of savvy fashion lovers to find those once âEw Mom you WORE this?â turned âRadâ pieces in the hopes of rejuvenating their personal style. I have been that Fashionista these last few months. I canât get enough of all the come-back stylesâŠproudly inheriting my motherâs dated Doc Martens. With that, here are the three most dominant trends I have noticed to be recirculating in countless polaroids and magazinesâŠ
Enjoy these oldies but goodies Fashionistas/os!
Â
Birkenstocks: The fact that I can remember my mother strolling around in these during my GRADE school years is the definition of âretroâ. These laid-back sandals originated in Germany and were created for comfort purposes. They are offered with a belted suede or leather buckle and come in various strap styles. With Birkenstocks you can even select a specific type of âfootbedâ that will accommodate your high arch or flat foot. Comfortable AND stylish? I need no more convincing!

Â
Mom Jeans: OKâŠ.I am loving this style of denim. Letâs hear it for the moms on this trend! A cohesive mix of high-waisted/ boyfriend jeans, the Mom Jeans are the perfect combination of relaxed and chic that can be worn from day to night. A light acid wash is sure to wow (pictured below) when paired with your favorite graphic tee and sandals. You can snag a pair of the mom-inspired denim at Urban Outfitters as well as Nordstroms- or have your luck at a thrifting extravaganza- you may get lucky!

Doc Martens: Ahh DocsâŠwe meet again. These edge-tastic boots have hit an all-time high that has yet to subside. Every shoe store I have walked into these last few months have had a plethora of these wondrous soles on display. Although they have gone through a little re-vampment (color wise), Doc Martens still have the same classic silhouette. My mother has graciously passed her 1990s pair down to me after digging them out of the dreary corner in the basement (score!), and they have been such a joy comfort and style wise.Â
