Alright Fashionistas/os… it’s that time of year again. The one day of the year where Cupid, heart-shaped boxes of chocolate, and let’s not forget those astronomically large teddy bears, make their appearance and seem to dominate EVERY corner of the grocery store. This ‘holiday’ can be a joyous occasion for some that indulge in the necessary fabrications of Valentine’s Day, but for some others it’s just another day… with maybe a little bit more chocolate consumption added to the agenda. C’mon, we have ALL been there. With that, I have put together some outfit ideas for all of you who have a date with that significant other or your girlfriends or however else you are planning to spend this lovely holiday.
XOXO, HerCampus Valentines
The Hardcore Valentine (Medici’s + a movie)
Admit it; you didn’t buy those heart-printed skinnies to wear on just any Friday of the year…we know. The Hardcore Valentine Fashionista LOVES to incorporate the actual symbol of the holiday into her outfit. I have been among the HVF’s for numerous Valentine’s Day escapades and personally… I’m in love with the idea. If you want to try this trend for the upcoming V-Day, I suggest using one or two ‘heart-inspired’ pieces in your wardrobe that will make anyone fall in love with your outfit. Perfect for dinner and a movie!
The Edgy Valentine (Concert + Chipotle)
Swapping out hearts for studs is the perfect way to show your edgy side. Got a concert in mind for Valentine’s Day night? Slip on some studded pumps, a red/ black plaid shirt, and your favorite jacket or cardi, and look at you! Incorporating the holidays signature color (red) into your ensemble. Your outfit will be the encore of the night, even when digging into that post-show Chipotle burrito. Ole̕!
The Casual Valentine (Home cooked meal + Netflix)
Ahhh…The Casual Valentine. If being comfy and home-made spaghetti is what you are all about than consider some cute booties and a beanie for this upcoming romantic occasion. A sweater overlaid with a chic vest will give you an effortless vibe that will give anyone a reason to swoon. Grab your favorite recipe, some candles and your favorite person or people and (voila!) you’ve got yourself a cozy and causal Valentine’s Day.
The Polished Valentine (Sugar cookies + Coffee)
We all know Valentine’s Day is usually associated with baking goodies and satisfying that sweet tooth. If you have plans that consist of whipping up a batch of sugar cookies and enjoying a pot of coffee with your Valentine, try the “Polished Valentine” look that will also satisfy your fashion fix. Pair a soft, delicate dress, your favorite shade of lipstick and some ‘Mary Jane inspired’ soles to create an unforgettable ensemble; one worthy of sweet, sweet compliments.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and those you love most!
