Ever since Netflix announced the making of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, all of us coffee-loving, fast-talking girls have been waiting at the edge of our seats for Nov. 25. This is everything that we have been hoping for since the show ended in 2007 and I can hardly stand the anticipation. Now that we’re getting closer and closer it’s only right that we start to prepare in the most Gilmore ways possible. Here are a few things that you’ll need to do if you want to get the full experience.
Order take-out food
Pizza, Chinese, tacos, and burgers with fries are the go-to take-out foods that Rory and Lorelai would go crazy for when they would have movie marathons. Those not familiar with Gilmore traditions would think that you would choose just one food to order, but not us true fans. We know that in order to do it right, you have to order all of it. Who doesn’t love leftovers?
Watch the classics
Pop culture references are a major part of the show and the ‘Gilmore Girls’ has seen just about everything. Casablanca, Pippy Longstocking, the Godfather, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and the Wizard of Oz are just a few of the favorite movies mentioned throughout the show.
Get snacks
The eating habits of Lorelai and Rory were constantly questioned all throughout the show. How can two girls eat so much junk food and maintain perfect skin and small figures? In order to watch the revival in true Gilmore fashion, you will need Red Vines, Mallomars, donuts, pop-tarts, and tater-tots. Better start preparing your stomach.
Coffee, coffee, coffee
Coffee is the drink of choice for the two girls in every episode of the show. They cannot function without it and will drink it at any time of the day. As Lorelai says, “If I stop drinking coffee, I stop doing the standing and walking and the words-putting-into-sentence doing.” We all feel you on that.
Grab your mom
Lorelai and Rory are the ultimate mother-daughter duo. They’re best friends and always have each other’s backs. Gilmore Girls reminds us about how awesome our own moms are and it only makes sense that you watch the revival with the lady who has been there since day one. I know I can’t wait to get home and watch it with my mom!
Now we must impatiently wait with our Red Vines in hand for Netflix to release this fantastic four-part event.
