Tuesday How To: Printed Candle

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

My favorite part about writing these how-to columns is sharing super cheap, simple, and affordable crafts with you guys. Being students, most of our money goes straight to textbooks and other school related fees (weekends). This craft is the perfect thing to do with little or maybe even no money because hey, you might even have what you’ll need lying around the house! If not, head on over to the dollar store and pick up a few supplies and make these candles for a loved one, a friend, or even yourself!

What you’ll need:
A white candle
An ink pad (black)
Stamp of your choice

Step 1:
Collect all supplies. Make sure your ink is not dried out!

Step 2:
Rub your stamp on the inkpad, simple huh? You can choose any kind of stamp that you’d like. Just make sure it matches up with the size of your candle if you want the whole stamp showing.

Step 3:
Gently roll the candle across your stamp.

Step 4:
Hold it to let it dry.

These candles are such an appealing decoration for your home and also a quick and easy gift! You can choose a quote stamp or a funny one to make for your friend. Craft stores have tons of stamps to choose from, so you can all make these candles very personalized!

Megan is a sophomore Journalism major at Illinois State University, with a minor in Creative Writing. She balances her time between class, her sorority- Gamma Phi Beta, and writing for the college newspaper- The Daily Vidette. When she’s not busy, Meg likes to shop for the best sales, rollerblade, hang out with friends or watch reruns of Sex and The City. Becoming a campus correspondent/editor-in-chief was a great accomplishment for her because she is an aspiring writer, hoping to take on the world of mass media after graduation in 2013.
