Bring out the velour tracksuits and micro braids, R&B King Usher Raymond has been releasing singles that has it feeling like 2004 all over again.Â
- 26 Years of Greatness:
-
Let me give you a little background on Usher Raymond. Releasing his first album in 1994, the Singer has managed to stay relevant for over 26 years. Usher is best known for his 2004 Confessions album, which sold 1.1 Million Copies in the first week in the U.S. The album had hits such as Confessions II, Burn and Yeah! (Ft. Lil Jon and Ludacris). Usher has managed to stay busy over the years. Usher has released 10 albums including singles such as OMG ft. will.i.am, Love in This Club Part II ft. Lil Wayne and Beyonce and Climax. Usher has also starred in movies such as She’s All That, Light it Up and In the Mix.
- Confessions 2020:
-
Last year, Usher posted this picture on his IG hinting that the Confessions album will have a part 2 coming out. Usher held on to this promise and is showing evidence that Confessions 2 is actually happening! Celebrating 16 years since Confessions’ release, this new album is the perfect way to celebrate.Â
Usher previewed the song Confessions 3, during a Los Angeles performance back in February. He shares a confession from a woman’s perspective which adds a unique twist to his traditional way of storytelling.Â
- Trio back again: Sex Beat
-
Usher, Lil Jon and Ludacris are a dynamic trio that have made hit songs together, including the 2004 single Yeah!. It’s only right that the trio has come back together on Usher’s Confessions 2 with a new hit. Lil Jon gave us a tease of this new song on his instagram live battle with T-pain and I knew that it was a hit when I first heard the beat! The song is very similar to Lovers and Friends, which is also a song by the trio. Sex Beat is very nostalgic to 2000’s R&B.Â
- New Summer vibes: Don’t Waste My Time
-
Usher has teamed up with R&B newcomer Ella Mai for a summer jam. The song is so smooth and the video is very 2000’s! It features celebrity guests like Jermaine Dupri, Snoop Dog and more!
While there is no specific release date for Confessions 2, it is expected to be released some time during 2020. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic putting a halt to things, Usher has managed to continue releasing content for his upcoming album including his newly released singles. Usher has managed to stay relevant for over 26 years and I am so happy that this generation can get a chance to experience Usher Raymond the superstar.
