These precious four years you are given to spend at your university will be gone in the blink of an eye. Approaching my third year of college, I’ve come to learn to always say yes to everything. The opportunities are endless and we are here to explore our passions and find out exactly what it is that makes us happy. Here are just a few instances when the answer should always be yes in college.
Â
1. If someone wants you to go to the gym with them.
There are a hundred reasons to say yes to this. Exercising not only makes you look great, but feel great. Also, you are more likely to make healthier food choices throughout the day after your work out. Binge watching Netflix in your bed can wait.
Â
2. If you are asked to join a team.
Whether this might be an intramural team, a sports team for a philanthropy event (no one cares if you’re bad, it’s all about raising money!), or a team for a fun Saturday afternoon activity, joining teams is an excellent way to meet new people in other organizations and have fun while doing so.
Â
3.  If you’re invited to attend a gathering.
While a night staying in can always be refreshing, you are only in college for so long. Save those nights in for when you are working full time. You never know who you might meet if you attend a gathering, even if you don’t know half the people there. You certainly aren’t going to meet anyone if you sit inside your apartment all night.
Â
4. If someone wants to get food.
Need I say more? On the contrary to always saying yes to exercise, some of the best memories are made on those 2 a.m. Taco Bell runs. If you’re exercising regularly, your body can afford to eat out every once in a while. Even if you’re broke, always say yes to grabbing food with your best friends. I can promise you that you won’t look back after graduation and regret going to steak and shake at 3:30 a.m. when you have a paper due the next day.
Â
5. If you are asked to go to a concert.
Although everyone says “don’t spend money you don’t have,” there is nothing that compares to good music. Buy the ticket. That night will most likely be one you will remember for a long time. Also, don’t record the entire concert. Enjoy it without your phone glued to your hand, because you won’t regret it.
People aren’t kidding when they tell you that college is the best four years of your life. With that being said, all good things must come to an end. That’s why you should say yes to pretty much everything when you are in college. The risks you take and the more open you are to new experiences will only enhance your time at your university. Take advantage of your youth and your ability to run on four hours of sleep while you can.
