The weather is finally starting to cool down and a few red leaves are dropping from the trees, and although there is still plenty of warm sun left to enjoy, it’s starting to get to that time of the year where fall comforts are essential.

Here is a list of a few things you can do/enjoy to truly embrace the fall season.

1. Watch Gilmore girls

Gilmore Girls walking through Fall Festival
Warner Bros. Television

Something about this show perfectly encapsulates the energy we all want at this time of year. Watching characters drink copious amounts of coffee, stroll around small town streets, and study like crazy for a good grade (while maintaining an unwavering aesthetic appeal) makes you feel like you’re right at home.

Watching Gilmore Girls is perfect for when you want to curl up on the couch with a hot drink and fuzzy blanket, and watch someone else do all the midterm studying while you take a much-needed mental break.

2. Listen to evermore by taylor swift

As I’m sure many of us know by now, Taylor Swift is releasing a new album on October 21st! But since we can’t relish (and maybe cry to) those songs yet, now is the perfect time to enjoy her most fall-appropriate album yet: evermore.

With songs about love and heartbreak, and friendships and family, there are sure to be a few songs on this album that resonate with you—no matter what’s happening in your life. The cover of the album alone is enough to make you feel like you’re right in the middle of the perfect fall season, and the overall slow, laidback tone of the album is made for bringing you warmth and comfort as it gets colder this semester.

3. Find your perfect fall jacket

While some of us may spend all of summer looking forward to wearing layers (without sweating), it can be hard for others to ‘romanticize’ their fall life when trying to make that middle school hoodie look fashionable. While there is absolutely no shame in loving the coziness of a simple sweatshirt, sometimes you just want to dress up a bit more for your 9 am lecture or your trip to the grocery store.

A timeless classic for fall weather will always be the leather jacket—it will never go out of style, and goes with practically every outfit! Try styling it with a mini skirt and tights, or your favorite pair of jeans, and it’s sure to be a flawless balance of effortless and chic.

If you want something that mimics the comfort of a hoodie, but with a little more room for styling, try a shacket (shirt/jacket)! Coming in a wide variety of patterns, colors, and weights, shackets can be made to suit nearly any personal style—without sacrificing any coziness.

4. Drink pumpkin spice lattes

We all saw this one coming, but why would we ignore a classic?

Although taking yourself out on a solo Starbucks date after a day of classes is always a fun experience, the money spent on PSLs throughout fall can easily add up. To avoid this potential financial strain, try getting yourself Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte creamer so that you will always have a PSL at the ready—without even needing to leave your apartment!
