The love season is officially here! And it is a perfect excuse to watch romantic movies every day and fall in love with fictional men. But don’t worry, I have hand-picked the best of them! Whether you are spending this holiday alone or with someone by your side, here are five movies that will spoil you with love on this year’s Valentine’s Day. Prepare some tissues and yummy snacks because you are in for a long marathon of love!
1. How to lose a guy in 10 days
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of the best romantic movies ever made. Andie (Kate Hudson) is a lifestyle magazine writer writing a new article about how to get a man to leave you in 10 days. She picks Benjamin (Matthew McConaughey) and it so happens that at the same time, he makes a bet with his boss that he can make any woman fall in love with him in 10 days. Silly and predictable, but so worth watching!
2. Me Before you
Me Before You is based on a popular romance novel by JoJo Moyes. This movie stars Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke, a duo that can melt even the coldest hearts. Clarke plays a sweet and bubbly girl struggling to find a job and Claflin portrays a grumpy guy that had lost a lot in his life. They both stumble into each others’ lives unexpectedly and try to navigate their differences. On top of that, he also gives her bumblebee tights. C’mon, I’d die for some bumblebee tights!
3. Dirty Dancing
We have a good girl that comes from a rich family and a bad boy from the “wrong” side of the tracks. Dirty Dancing is a classic that every hopeless romantic should watch. “Nobody puts Dirty Dancing in a corner!” Oh no, wait — I think I got it mixed up. Either way, to know the actual quote, you should go watch this movie after finishing this article!
4. pretty Woman
Pretty Woman tells the love story between a prostitute and a wealthy businessman. Coming from two different worlds, they find themselves longing for each other and understanding that love doesn’t come so easily and you have to fight for what you believe. Perfect movie for those who especially like the “I-don’t-do-relationships” guys who have a soft spot for only one special girl.
5. Enchanted
To change it up a bit, Enchanted is a Disney movie where the typical fairytale story meets the suburbs of New York City. Half animated, half live-action, this film tells the story of a young girl that is soon going to become a princess. Unfortunately, her evil stepmother sends her away into the real world where she tries to navigate the different reality and try to stop herself from falling in love with a handsome lawyer. Definitely a must-watch!
