With the craziness that the end of the semester brings between finishing that 10 page paper, cramming for finals or just trying to find an open spot at the UGL it’s hard to imagine doing anything over winter break besides staying in bed and watching Netflix all day. But, if you can be productive over winter break coming back to school second semester will be so much easier!
Â
Step 1: Make a List
Make a list of everything that you want to do or accomplish over winter break. It doesn’t have to be all work related things, it can just be fun things you want to do to! Just make a list, put it somewhere where you’ll see it every day and get to it!
Step 2: Apply for Jobs
Summer internships seem world’s away, but think of how much better you’ll feel knowing you’ve already completed a majority or all of your job applications when you get back to campus in January. A lot of summer internships have already been posted with looming deadlines, so it will only benefit you to get your application in early and get the ball rolling!
Step 3: Work Out
The holidays mean eating lots and lots of food. No matter what you tell yourself, you know you’re going to go for that extra cookie and, hey, if someone else is cooking for you why wouldn’t you go for seconds? Hitting the gym or at least being active over winter break will make you feel better and help you justify all the extra holiday goodies you’re consuming.
Â
Step 4: Get Organized
Feeling like your life is a little cluttered? Take a day to clean out your room, backpack and put things in place. Get rid of things you don’t need and clean up everything else. Winter break inevitably flies by, so get everything in order for second semester too! Make sure you have your classes in order, an idea of what you want to get done when you get back to campus and gather things that you want to bring back with you.
Step 5: Get Out and Do Something Fun!
Part of break is just that, to take a break! Get out of your hometown or wherever you might be and do something fun. Explore a new city, enjoy winter weather or take time to do something you always wish you could be doing during the school semester. The best way to feel productive over break is to do something memorable, so get out there! Â
