Happy Valentine’s day everyone! This is a holiday notorious for either being loved or hated. People usually have very strong feelings when it comes to this specific holiday and that’s usually because it ties back to past experiences (or the lack thereof) that they’ve had with significant others. However, over here at HC we’re trying to change the narrative and get rid of the bad reputation that surrounds Valentine’s Day. Because even if you’re not celebrating with a significant other, who cares!? This is the perfect time to show yourself some extra love and appreciation, and I’m gonna tell you just how you can do it.

Treat Yourself

On V-day, make sure to treat yourself! Whether that’s buying yourself a boujee and expensive meal to enjoy, buying yourself the flowers and chocolates, going to get your nails done, or finally giving in and purchasing something you’ve had your eye on, you deserve to treat yourself to something special this holiday!

Take the Day to RELAX

The beginning of the year can be a stressful time for everyone, so a great way to indulge in self care this V-day is to do….absolutely nothing! You heard that right. Take the day off from homework, emails, cleaning, etc. and instead spend the day doing things that make you happy and feel full inside whether that’s going for a walk, cooking, hanging out with friends, or just binge watching TV all day.

Take A Social Media Cleanse

Social media can be exhausting and overwhelming any day of the year but especially on Valentine’s Day. While it’s nice to see others happy and in love and celebrating it, maybe it’s not something you want to see everytime you open up your phone. Taking a cleanse for even just the day can be beneficial for your mental health and for the soul.

Get Dressed Up & Take Cute Pics…Just For You!

If you’re someone who enjoys getting dressed up and putting on makeup as a kind of therapy, this can be a great way to indulge in self care this v-day. Get dressed up in a cute v-day inspired fit and makeup look and take cute pics for yourself! This is sure to boost your confidence and make you feel like the babe you are!

Write Yourself A Love Letter

Romeo who? This year we’re writing our own love letters ladies!!! Even if you’re in a relationship, this can be a great exercise to get you focused on self love and self care and make you realize all of the things you appreciate about yourself! Plus, think about how cute it will be to look back on in the coming years or read when you’re feeling down.
