Beauty Blog: Deck the Hall with Beautiful Skin

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

As the holidays will be here before we know it, it’s about that time that to start “casually mentioning,” “accidentally leaving websites open on the family computer” and dropping the “alllllll my friends have….” line for things you hope to be unwrapping next month.  My annual wish list typically consists of a few small things (if you’re reading this Mom, I could really use a new wallet) and one larger item (those Burberry rainboots are super cute, too….).  Last year, my ‘larger item’ was a surprise from my mom and happens to be one of the best gifts I’ve received yet!  The Clarisonic Pro Skincare Brush will have you fa-la-la-ing all year long.

My personal Clarisonic is one of the ‘Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System’ products.  These brushes come in a variety of cute colors and are the simplest form of the product.  Though advertising can be deceiving, this product absolutely gives you your moneys worth and is much more than a giant electric toothbrush for your face.  The ‘Mia’ is $30 cheaper than the ‘Mia 2,’ and the only difference is that it only has one speed instead of two, which I’ve never noticed it to be a disadvantage.

At the reasonable price of $119, I truly believe the ‘Mia’ significantly removes more dirt and makeup than manual cleansing as it has notably improved the tone and texture of my skin.  I typically use this brush every other day (though it is gentle enough to be used twice a day) with my normal cleanser as a mild alternative to exfoliating, as it does a similar job without the pain.  After each use, my skin is noticeably smoother and brighter and I can tell it helps my moisturizer and other products work to their full potential.  Makeup application is much silkier and fresh looking, and overall more radiant.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a brighter, healthier complexion, especially as the winter weather will soon bring dry, flaky skin.  So add this little guy to your wish list, you won’t regret it!

Emily Cleary is a 22-year-old news-editorial journalism major hoping to work in the fashion industry, whether that be in editorial, marketing, PR or event planning is TBD. With internships at Teen Vogue and StyleChicago.com, it's clear that she is a fashion fanatic. When she's not studying (she's the former VP of her sorority, Delta Delta Delta), writing for various publications or attending meetings for clubs like Business Careers in Entertainment Club, Society of Professional Journalists, The Business of Fashion Club, or for her role as the Assistant Editor of the Arts & Entertainment section of her school's magazine, she's doing something else; you will never find her sitting still. She loves: running (you know those crazy cross-country runners...), attending concerts and music festivals, shopping (of course), hanging out with friends, visiting her family at home, traveling (she studied abroad in London when she was able to travel all over Europe), taking pictures, tweeting, reading stacks and stacks of magazines and newspapers while drinking a Starbuck's caramel light frappacino, blogs and the occasional blogging, eating anything chocolate and conjuring up her next big project. Living just 20 minutes outside of Chicago, she's excited to live there after graduation, but would love to spend some time in New York, LA, London or Paris (she speaks French)!
