There is a reason you often look at celebrities on TV or the red carpet and say, “Wow, she’s got great looking hair.” The reason that celebrities like Selena or Lauren Conrad’s hair looks too good to be true is because, well, it is. More often than not, those celebrities are wearing hair that is fake!
Now as girls, we spend a lot of time and money on our hair. Products alone, the list of necessities could go on forever. We have our creams, serums, foams, waxes, texturizers, balms, sprays and more. All the effort we put into our hair seems a little crazy on the outside, but there are reasons to our madness!
- According to Cosmo, one of the first things that a guy notices about a girl is how thick her hair is. This idea stems from our caveman days when men were drawn to women with thick hair because it showed that they were healthy.
- Disney movies exposed us to unrealistic expectations about hair. As children, we believed that our hair would be as thick as Jasmine, as voluptuous as Ariel and straight as Pocahontas. To our dismay, it was around the age of five that we all realized this was Disney magic and was never going to happen.
Most celebrities, whether they have thick locks or fine hair, receive a bit of help from hair extensions to achieve their long locks and the good news is you can too!
Girls who got extensions right
LC
Lauren Conrad’s signature look is her long, gorgeous hair that’s always set in place. However, those of you “Laguna Beach” fans may remember that Lauren achieved this look through salon visits to get hair extensions. Her salon habit didn’t stop after reality TV, today LC openly talks about her love for extensions because of the flawless look they brings.
Miley Cyrus
Back when Miley Cyrus doubled as Hannah Montana and kept her clothes on her body, she had luscious locks! In the February 2010 issue of “Harper’s Bazaar,” she talked about long brown hair: “I have, like, 350 extensions in my hair. That was not real. None of it was ever real.”
Danielle Ruhl

Danielle Ruhl, a junior at the University of Illinois is, the hair envy of many. Her secret? “My friend had extensions and really liked them, so I thought I’d try some,” Ruhl said. “My hair never grew and sat at an awkward length at my shoulders. I told myself I could only get one set, but they’re addicting!”
Just like with every trend, there’s always the possibility of a fashion faux pas. “One con to hair extensions is you never know when one may slip,” Ruhl explained, “I have had many awkward occurrences where an extension falls out, and I’ll have to be sly and sneak it in my pocket. Once I was at a party and it fell out. Everyone started picking it up and pretending it was their mustache, eyebrow, etc. and I was mortified when they found out it was mine!”
Whether your hair is long or short, silky or kinky, bright or bold, hair extensions can help transform your hair to celebrity or even Rapunzel like status.
