The days are getting shorter, the pumpkin spice lattes are getting yummier and the air is getting colder- that’s right, spooky season is finally here! Even though the pandemic has changed our normal day-to-day activities, it’s still possible to have a fun and COVID-safe Halloween! Here are a few fab-boo-lous ideas to celebrate!
1. Pumpkin Decorating Contests
Whip out your paring knives and sharpies and gather your friends (either socially distant or on a Zoom call!) and let your creativity reign! You’ll have tons of fun crafting with your friends and at the end of it, all of you will have a gourd-geous decoration to show off!
2. Candy Hunting
Having FOMO for trick-or-treating? Why not trick-or-treat yourself? Gather a few close friends and roommates, hide some candy around your place and have a fun treasure hunt for it! It might not be the same as going door-to-door, but you’ll still have a lot of fun and sweet treats at the end of it!
3. Themed Face Masks
We all have to wear masks, so why not add a little spice to yours to show everyone you’re in the spirit?! All it takes is a few friends and crafting supplies (and masks, of course) to add fun Halloween puns, faces, spooky decorations or whatever else you can come up with!
4. Halloween Movie Night
There’s no reason to stray away from an old classic: pop some popcorn, grab some candy, cue your old favorites or new horrors and have some skele-fun streaming together! Bonus to make it extra creepy- turn down the lights, grab a flashlight and tell some spooky ghost stories.
5. Halloween Baking (or Mocktail) Night
Thanks to online bloggers, there’s a plethora of recipes for adorable and spooky treats ranging from ghost cake pops to witch hat cookies for a handmade sugar high that’ll make you go batty! Want to class it up a bit? All it takes is a little dry ice and juice to have ‘gram-ready mocktails too!
6. Doll In The HallÂ
Got an elf on the shelf? Doll in the Hall (or Ghost with the Most, Vampire in the Spire, etc.) is a fun Halloween take on the usual Christmas tradition. You can either thrift or make a creepy Halloween themed doll and have fun hiding it around your house/apartment for your roommates to find and re-hide for endless fun. But remember not to be a jerk-o-lantern!
