My Favorite Books I have Read Over Summer

Nothing is better than going to the beach, cracking open a good book and spending hours tanning and reading. In fact, this is one of the main reasons why I look forward to summer. I often start compiling my list of books to read as soon as the weather starts to get warmer. Here are some of my all-time favorite books I have read over the summer!

1. Beach Read By Emily Henry

This read is the main summer-themed read on this list! Henry writes of two authors, one female, one male. Both are stuck in a rut in regards to their writing and are finding it difficult to submit their next novel for publishing. They create a challenge for summer in which they must write in the other individual’s writing style. Augustus must write romance, and January must write American fiction. As their books develop, so do their feelings for one another. This is a super fun, heartwarming romance novel, perfect for summertime!

2. My Sister’s Keeper By Jodi Picoult

Although not a specifically summer book, this novel is one you won’t be able to put down, perfect for the beach. This story follows Anna and Kate and their family. Kate suffers from a rare and aggressive form of leukemia, and her sister Anna was conceived with the sole purpose of donating her bone marrow. This turns into years of Anna being in and out of the hospital to help her sister, and she eventually reaches a point where she wants to pursue medical emancipation. The twists and turns in this novel will shock you and give you a new outlook on life. You truly won’t be able to put this book down, so be prepared to spend a whole day just lying on the beach.

3. Wrong Place, Wrong Time By Gillian McAllister

This is another book not specifically geared towards summer, however, it is also another you won’t be able to put down. Jen Brotherhood is a lawyer and mother who witnesses her son murder someone on the front steps of her home. As she wakes up the next morning, she realizes that she is in a time loop and is traveling back in time each day. She knows that she needs to figure out why her son has become a murderer, and she knows the answer lies in the past. Following her journey to figure out this mystery will keep you on your toes and your nose to your book.

At the end of the day, summertime is one of the best times to read, especially if you are a student. With school done for two to three months, you have so much more time on your hands, and it is such a relaxing thing to do when lying by the beach or a pool. I hope these reads can make your summer even a little more interesting!
