With Thanksgiving break coming up I’m sure we have all made a mental note in our heads of what we plan on doing first. School is amazing, don’t get me wrong, but there are definitely things we miss doing at home while we are on campus. So colligiettes, here are the top six things we can’t wait to do over break explained by The Office.
1. Being Lazy
Coming home from school gives you a perfect excuse not to leave your bed. You are busy running around campus when you are at school and can really use a break in real life! Plus, you have no real responsibilities over break so why not plant yourself on the couch for a few hours (or days).
2. Sleep
Another great thing about being home is you no longer have to wake up for those annoying early classes. You get to actually sleep in, relax, Netflix, and lay for as long as you want to in the mornings. Sleeping until noon is absolutely a must over break. If your family complains tell them you’re catching up from missing sleep for studying too much for an exam last week; it works every time.
3. Not Doing School Work
Coming home over break means one thing for school work: midterms are finally over. They go on for about 3 months, but thanksgiving is usually the tell tale sign that they are officially over. So, this means that over thanksgiving no assignments are usually assigned. Except for those terrible people who assign exams the day after break. But, other than them it’s smooth sailing and a wonderful break!
4. Home Cooked Meals
Even if your parents either never cook or suck at it, you still always somehow crave the to-go plastic containers and half raw half burnt chicken they somehow managed to create. There’s nothing like eating garbage for a couple months that make you finally realize that you really need a nice home cooked meal that you didn’t prepare. It’s time for us to lay back and enjoy while other people are cooking for us, I mean we did after all just have a hard half of a semester after all.
5. Friends
Coming home is also amazing for catching up with your old friends. Whether you talk every day, or once a month you can always count on those relationships to never change. It is always so fun to see your friends and just pick up right where you all left off! Plus, everyone loves hearing about which friend has the wildest story from school.
6. Showers
I don’t know about you, but my showers at home feel significantly better than they do at school. It’s just something about the fact that you never actually feel clean unless it’s from your own shower at home1 Showering at home is the definition of pure happiness.
