Sporty and Sexy: Athletic Brands That Combine Both

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

We’ve all been there: looking less than our best while running into that cute guy from class at the gym. While looking good isn’t the main objective of working out, it can definitely help in the mentioned situation and with motivating you to get off your butt and get moving in the first place. Check out these three athletic brands which combine comfort and style in trendy workout pieces.

Strut-This

Strut-This—a fairly new brand of workout clothes—founded by two mother-daughter teams has finally gotten fashionable yoga clothes just right. Strut-This is sold exclusively in boutiques throughout California, as well as through their online site. Although their prices may not be the cheapest, it is well worth it for the trendy workout clothing that they offer.

Selling capris, pants, shorts, tops, jackets and sports bras, Strut-This sets themselves apart with their unique patterns. Bright accents on both their bottoms and tops pull their workout outfits together flawlessly and with little effort.

Strut-This was founded in 2011 by four women who were trying to satisfy the everyday girl who is “going from a workout, to running errands and engaging in both practical and daily activities, without the fear of being caught in grungy and un-flattering workout apparel.” Just one look at their website and there is no doubt they fulfill this goal. Strut-This will keep you looking and feeling good throughout your workout and anything else on your to-do list.

Fabletics

Fabletics takes a new approach to finding the workout outfit that works for you. Their apparel is sold exclusively on their website. Upon opening the web page, you are prompted to take a quiz about your clothing and exercise preferences. After this quiz is completed, shoppers are shown suggested outfit pieces that hopefully appeal to them. You can then shop around and check out like a regular clothing site or you can become part of their VIP membership program which offers full Fabletics outfits for just $49.95 a month.

Fabletics sets themselves apart with their low prices and their innovative shopping process. They also offer fun colors and patterns that will spice up your workout. The idea of receiving a new workout outfit every month would definitely be motivation to hit the gym and show off your new look. So many of their pieces can go from the gym to the streets with trendy twists to simple pieces.

Zella

Zella is Nordstrom’s in-house athletic brand that is incredibly similar to the well-known Lululemon, but Zella comes at a way more reasonable price. Zella offers so many options, from simple black leggings to leggings with sexy cutouts that can go from day to workout to night. Competitively priced to compete with Lululemon, Zella also offers similar styles. Zella is sold exclusively at Nordstrom’s. Zella really does have it all, even offering plus-sized and youth girls’ options.

Zella achieves the goal of helping women feel feminine and powerful while being active. They keep most of their pieces simple and basic but with small accents that will keep you looking stylish. Although Zella may not have the cheapest prices, they make up for it in quality and the consistency of their product. Just a simple Google search of the Zella brand and you will find so many rave reviews of this great new athletic line.
