While this wasn’t exactly the spring anyone was planning on, the only thing we can do is use it to be productive. While sitting in bed and binging Netflix is always an easy solution, there are lots of things you can do to continue to improve your life and hopefully return to a better normal when things all settle down. Below I’ve given you a few of the ways I’ve been keeping myself productive while staying home.
1. Clean Out Your Closet/Junk Room
I don’t know about you, but this is a feat for me. I love to get new clothes and I have a tendency not to get rid of any until my closet is literally overflowing. It was most definitely that time again and going through all my clothes made me feel like I wasn’t wasting time. Next, I moved to the spare bedroom of my house, which is the room everyone in my family just throws all their junk. Slowly but surely, I’ve been rearranging it into a functional space once again. I know I can’t exactly get rid of anything, but when this is all over, Plato’s Closet will surely be getting a hefty new inventory.
2. Start Journaling
In high school, I used to journal everyday and doing this made me so much more in tune with my emotions. Getting into the habit of taking a few minutes everyday to reflect on your day can really open your eyes to the positives in life. This is certainly the time to start trying to form new habits and this one has certainly kept me more grounded.
3. Make Your Pinterest Ideas Come To Life
I have a Pinterest board full of things I thought I’d never really make. Since being at home, I’ve completed about three of these projects and I’m slowly watching these ideas come to life. Allowing yourself to embrace some creativity is certainly a good way to pass time and still feel productive. Painting a jean jacket, making a card game or painting some furniture are all good ways to start.
4. Send A Letter To All Of Your Pals
While texting is much more efficient and timely than snail mail, I do think there’s really something special about getting traditional mail. It’s always fun to get a card addressed to you with a sweet note inside and there’s no better time to do it than now. With all the disconnect, it’s certainly a way to let your friends know you still care and can’t wait to see them after all the craziness.
There are certainly tons of ways to keep busy during this time, but these are a few of the ways I’ve been able to keep myself occupied. While this time is definitely difficult, there’s no reason to waste it all. Good luck and stay healthy!
