Gossip Girl here, and I have all the tips to achieving the ultimate It-Girl’s style: Blair Waldorf edition.

If Queen B has taught us anything, it’s that style is power. Who you are is projected through your clothing, it is a tangible projection of your personality, so when you dress it’s a reflection of who you are and what you represent. Confidence, intelligence and power is what Waldorf showcases through her fashion, while simultaneously looking drop dead gorgeous. If you want the Blair Waldorf aesthetic, here is your ultimate guide.

Blair Waldorf is all about elegance. Think old money, your rich great aunt’s house in the Hamptons; Modesty is something that is unconsciously incorporated into her style. Whether it’s layering for the cold New York winters, or choosing more high-neck mini dresses, this consistency of dressing more conservatively is so subtle that most don’t even realize because her personality isn’t one you would typically associate with the idea of conservative. Staple pieces of hers include everyday blouses, pencil skirts, pea coats, tights and headbands, all of which can be found either at the mall, in your closet, your mom’s closet, the thrift store or the Chanel in your city.

Many of the iconic brunette’s outfits must have a pop of color in them. Her most famous look, of her school outfit, consists of a simple neutral plaid skirt, white button up and black bow tie, but she adds a yellow headband in. Pops of red are also very common in accessories like scarves, tights, bags and hair accessories.

Besides these pops of personality, plaid is also a constant in Waldorf’s wardrobe. From pea coats, skirts, headbands, dresses and more, Blair is all about the preppy, clean look and nothing says that better than plaid. Especially in the fall and winter, it’s easy to incorporate these into your everyday look, and you can do so in any price range. Thrifting is a great way to become Blair on a budget, but if you can afford it, the Prada plaid mini skirt is to die for.

Just like how S and B’s friendship changes with the seasons, so does your wardrobe, but that doesn’t have to be for the worse. From fall to winter, B uses tights, matching gloves and scarves and oversized coats, to fight the chilly New York air. You can do the same: choose to layer neutrals with a pop of color. A simple outfit of any frilly white button-up, mini skirt, tights with Mary Janes, a pea coat with a headband and bag, and of course jewelry, is a chic way to encapsulate the Queen B aura.

Besides neutrals and plaids, however, Blair is well known for her ability to mismatch prints and colors in a chic, but sometimes questionable, way. Red and yellow were her main pops of colors, through her usual pea coats, headbands and tights. Funky and outgoing prints were powered by her confidence to pull off a laughable fit to an impressive one. At the end of the day, confidence is what makes a Blair outfit, an “It-Girl” outfit.

So take my fashion advice with a grain of salt if you please, plus a ton of poise and self-assurance.
