Clothing styles may have drastically changed through the years, but now, we’re living in an age of recycled and revitalized fashion. If there’s one thing Gen Z can do, it’s bring back vintage outfits and make them ten times cuter than before! One of the most prominent movements that are making a comeback is Y2K fashion, or fashion featured in the 2000s. Some of the iconic trendsetters were stars like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Rihanna, Beyonce and the Kardashians. Here’s a list of a few Y2K pieces that you can use to spice up your closet!
1. VELOUR TRACKSUIT
This specific outfit was made popular by the one and only Paris Hilton. It features a silky cropped sweatshirt and loose-fitting yoga pants. You can get them in almost any color, but the most popular ones from the 2000’s were blue and pink! Many brands still create this look, but by far the best brand is Juicy Couture. It’s a little expensive, but you can buy the same styles at Amazon, Forever 21 and other more affordable stores!
2. CARGO PANTS
Celebrities like Aaliyah, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears loved to wear cargo pants back in the early 2000s! They can be used to achieve that clean girl look with a tank top, cropped jacket and some sunglasses. But, they can also be dressed down with a baggy sweatshirt. Also, Avril Lavigne would wear cargo pants for more of a grunge vibe, so that’s an option as well! Cargo pants now come in tons of different colors, like army green, beige, or grey, so you can achieve whatever look you want! Cargo pants are sold pretty much anywhere, like Amazon, Hollister, Forever 21, and other companies!
3. BAGS AND SHIRTS WITH Fiorucci Angels
Another fashion choice making a comeback is the Fiorucci Angel, which is literally just two little angels patterned on different accessories. The design is adorable! The shirts can be paired with jackets or layered with other shirts, and the purses go with pretty much any outfit! You can purchase these on the official Fiorucci website!
4. LOW RISE JEANS
I know that high-waisted, baggy jeans are the most popular denim right now, but low-rise jeans deserve a moment of appreciation! They’re form-fitting but have a bit of looseness at the bottom, and look good with any outfit! People frequently pair these with belts, layered shirts and bomber jackets! To get the best pair, I recommend checking a few of your local thrift stores, because you can easily find a good pair for $10 or less! If you want a new pair, check Levi’s or the GAP!
