Hey gal pals! Two things we love here at IC are staying active and keeping ourselves healthy. That’s why one of our favorite organizations on campus, Women In Communications, is holding an awesome event that you should all – including you too, boys! – take part in.
On Sunday, October 27th, starting at 11 a.m., WIC will be hosting Tennis for Tatas at the tennis courts right outside the Park School. To learn more about the event, I spoke with one of WIC’s members, junior Lauren Quigley.
“We got the idea from one of our E-Board members who does one of the PALS tennis classes that IC offers for credit, and then we thought of the name Tennis for Tatas,” Quigley said. “We knew we wanted it to benefit something for women [being that our organization is Women in Communications], and with October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, it was perfect.”
The event will offer food, music, games and, of course, a raffle. To participate in the event, you can sign up in the Campus Center Lobby outside of Freshens on October 15th and October 16th, and also October 22nd through October 24th. If you can’t make it to CC Lobby, no worries! Sign up online right here, either by yourself or even with a friend as a double. Do it NOW to be one of the first 50 to register and get a free t-shirt – because who doesn’t love some free SWAG?! The event is 10 dollars per person who registers, but don’t worry, your money is going to a great cause.
“Proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation,” said Quigley. “It is a great foundation dedicated to education and research about the causes, treatment and cures for breast cancer, so we’re very excited to be able to help out.”
So throw on some pink in honor of awareness and whip out your inner Maria Sharapova, ladies. We’ll see you on the courts!
