This week’s Campus Cutie is Tim Bidon, a journalism major from New City New York. On campus, he’s involved with the Labor Initiative Promoting Solidarity (also known as LIPS). In his free time, he likes to drink lots of coffee, go out dancing, take naps in the sun, and eat. Take a minute to read the rest of our interview with Tim and see why he’s our latest Campus Cutie.
HC: As a journalism major, what made you choose Ithaca College?
TB: The people were so nice; I went to a lot of schools. I knew that I wanted to be a journalism major and the Park School was really awesome. A good town to live in- not too far from home, but not so close that I have to go home on a regular basis.
HC: What’s your dream job?
TB: Either a foreign correspondent or a regular news anchor for a independent news network.
HC: Where do you see yourself in five years?
TB: There are a lot of things I’d like to do. I’d like to join the Peace Corps after school. I want to go to Columbia for grad school. I’d really love to move to Paris. I’d love to make my living there.
HC: What’s an unusual thing that people generally don’t know about you?
TB: When I get stressed out, I start talking to my fish, Armani.
HC: What are your plans for this year?
TB: I’d like to get involved writing more and writing for more publications. I’m in LIPS again. Last year, we did the living wage initiative. I’m on the e-board this year, so I’ll be doing that again. I also joined STAND. It’s a lot of activism, a lot of academics, while working on keeping up my social life.
HC: Want to share your relationship status?
TB: Single forever! [laughs]
HC: What’s something that you look for in a love interest?
TB: They’ve got to have a sense of humor. Chances are if you have blue eyes, I like it. You’ve got to be aware and care about the world. Activism is such a huge part of my life. And you can’t be too short, because I’m 6’ 4”, which is pretty tall.
HC: Any life mantras to share?
TB: I love Bea Arthur and she said something like this, “I’m not playing a role; I’m just being myself. Whatever the hell that is. It’s all about spontaneity and taking life as it goes.”
