Now that I’m at the finish line of my freshman year, I noticed that there are a few things that can only be deemed acceptable on a college campus. From posting up for a quick nap on the couch in the middle of the IMU or seeing girls clad in mini skirts and crop tops walking to a party on a Tuesday night, a college campus, especially at IU, is unlike anything else.
Going out on a Tuesday. As I said before, it’s not a rare sight to see girls in clothes fit for parties on the weeknights. Going out during the week was definitely not allowed in high school and certainly doesn’t happen after college. But hey at college, anything is possible.
Collegiates Everywhere. It is truly a sight to see when the weather warms up and everyone flocks to the outdoors to enjoy the sun. You’ll find thousands of kids chilling out outside, playing volleyball together, throwing a frisbee, or hammocking near the Jordan River.
The Strangest Meal Combinations Ever. While in college, it’s practically impossible to maintain a balanced diet. Between the barely edible chicken at food courts and various Pizza Xs located near the dorms, I have had difficulty adjusting to the new food options. There will be days where it’s completely normal to see someone eating cereal and a bowl of Easy Mac for dinner.
People Sleeping… Everywhere. As a college student, I am tired ALL THE TIME. I prefer to take naps in the comfort of my own bed, but there are plenty of students who will post up at a table in the library, in the middle of the IMU, lounges, or anywhere they can find a comfortable place to snooze.
Pajamas in Public. Sometimes, it’s too much work to put on anything besides leggings and the sweatshirt that you may or may not have slept in to go to class. Everyone has been there at one point or another, so there is no judgement whatsoever.
