Elena Kapp is the definition of a Campus Celebrity. Not only does she influence campus life on many different levels, but she is also personable and caring toward others.

Elena is an International Business major and a student of both the Honors Business Program and Cook Honors College. She has her fingers in many different pots. Elena is the Director of External Affairs for the Student Government Association. Her involvement with SGA has been one of the most influential experiences she has had thus far. She describes how SGA has molded her: “I have learned that I have potential and there is always an opportunity to learn more. More importantly, I have learned that there are some things for which you will never be ready, but if you do not take the chance, you will surely miss out.” Her other extra-curricular activities include the IUP Student Cooperative Association, Sailing Club, American Language Institute Tutor, and Academic Success Mentor.

Elena is passionate about taking advantage of the opportunities life has to offer. Her advice to underclassmen is to “take in as much as you can.” She encourages fellow IUP collegiettes to “not be timid, advocate for yourself, learn, and grow.” It’s no surprise she will be sharing this passion as she travels abroad in the upcoming spring semester to India and Spain.

Elena is appreciative of the opportunities IUP has provided to learn and grow as a professional and person. Although she has no solid post-graduation plans, she is considering joining the Peace Corp to aid community development in countries of need. Elena describes her dream job as one that allows her to do good in the world: “Eventually, I would love to work abroad as a representative for either IMF or The World Bank. Whatever I end up doing, my two goals are to be happy and to help other people.”

Elena has also been honored as a member of this year’s Crimson Court. Congratulations, Elena, you deserve it and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for you!

I am currently an English Education student with a Spanish minor at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  I work as a Community Assistant in one of the residence halls and volunteer as a tutor for students learning English as a second language.  My dream job is that of a secondary bilingual education teacher.  Some of my favorite past times include watching movies, drinking coffee, reading, and hanging out with my friends here at IUP.I am also the president of Her Campus IUP.  The opportunity to work with the talented writers, photographers, and designers that I do makes the position enjoyable and rewarding.  We work as a team to bring readers the best possible articles and events.
