Listen up, bestie. If you didn’t get the memo, it’s officially Moody Girl Fall. Obviously, we have to make sure you’re out there looking your best while living your best life. I’m gonna keep this intro short and simple so let’s just get right into it! If you’re struggling to think of some fall fits or if you just want a new variety of clothes, these are some of my favorite fall-fit pieces to wear this season.

Tops

Mock neck: I’m starting off with a mock neck because I think sometimes, they’re underrated. I would recommend getting one in black and one in white. I’d also recommend getting the ones with a ruffle neck because it just adds to the overall cuteness of the look. A mock neck is a great thing to have in your closet because you can easily throw a plain-colored tank top (more on that later) or a cute graphic tee overtop. Or you could just wear it as it is with a jacket or flannel.

Sweaters: I feel like this one is self-explanatory with it being “sweater weather” and all. I L O V E sweaters! Everyone should have a couple of sweaters, whether they’re cropped, oversized, knitted, or vintage. It’s super easy to style sweaters in the fall with either a plain skirt or jeans.

Flannel: I know I just said I love sweaters, BUT I also L O V E flannels. Flannels are great because you can throw it on top of a lot of different types of shirts and it will still look super put together. We all know sometimes jackets can take away from a good outfit, but in my opinion, flannels add to the fall look. I feel like they’re a definite staple of fall. When I see a flannel, I think “fall”!

Cardigan: I think cardigans are a cute addition to anyone’s outfit. I will say though that if you aren’t a fan, a plain jacket or flannel will do. A cardigan is just to throw over a plain top if it’s extra chilly out. I will ALSO say that it is important that you get a cardigan that fits your style, or else you’ll look like a high school English teacher. Cropped cardigans are something you should look into if you want something I little chicer.

Button-downs: I really like button-downs because I love layering. I like to put a sweater or a sweatshirt over the button-down to class up the look a little bit. I would recommend at least having a white one, but I also like to have one in black as well. These shirts make it super easy to make your outfit look dressed up, so that is why I recommend them.

Plain-colored tank tops: I love plain-colored tank tops because they go perfectly with the mock neck! I get these in fall colors like maroon, yellow, brown, and green. Wear this with a mock neck, a cardigan, either a black skirt or a pair of jeans, and sheer black tights, and you’re going to look stunning.

Black dress: Everyone needs to have a little black dress. It’s great for the spooky season and it’s super cute. I’d pair this with some tights and Doc Martens (or any boot).

Puffy jacket: Puffy jackets have become popular over the past couple of years. I’ve seen a lot more girls in my age group wearing them. I think they can be cute when paired with a pair of jeans and some sneakers.

Black skirt: Skirts in general can be so cute for fall, especially when partnered with a pair of sheer black tights (I’ll get more into that later), but I really recommend a black skirt. You know what they say, black goes with everything! Having a plain-colored skirt also makes styling a patterned top so much easier.

Jean skirt: Keeping with the skirt theme, I recommend having a jean skirt for those days you need a plain skirt, but not too plain. I think it works well with a vintage sweater, or any sweater for that matter would really work with this choice of skirt.

Sweatpants: I know I’ve listed a lot of more preppy clothes so far, but it’s also important to keep something casual in your closet. Personally, I love wearing sweatpants with a plain tank top or cute crop top. Throw a jacket over top of that, and you’re set!

Jeans: Jeans are a definite must-have. Whether they’re mom jeans, straight-legged, skinny, ripped, or non-ripped, you gotta have a pair. They immediately make an outfit look more dressed up. A good pair of jeans can be a girl’s best friend because you can wear a super comfy and baggy top, but still look like you have your life together because of the jeans you’re wearing.

Leggings: Who doesn’t love a good pair of leggings? Not only are they super comfortable, but they can also make your butt look super good. I think that’s a bonus in my opinion. I would either pair them with an oversized top or a cute crop top to show off the abdomen with a jacket over top.

Ruffle socks: I L O V E ruffle socks! They’re adorable and add to the cutesy feeling of an outfit. Girl, I really recommend getting yourself some ruffle socks in different colors. I personally prefer a pastel selection, but you can get whatever color palette works for you.

Black tights: Black tights look so good this time of year. I personally prefer the sheer type, but you can choose whichever looks best on you. The sheer tights are really trendy right now and I feel like they can match more outfits than the solid ones. Overall, I really recommend getting a pair of black tights.

Patterned socks: This is probably one of the most recommended items that I could think of. These are so easy to find and so cute! You can honestly find these at any dollar store in your area, Walmart, or Amazon. I love having patterned socks with cute little designs on them for almost every season. I highly recommend at least just having ONE pair. I just know you’ll want to wear them at least one day out of the season.

Beanies: Who doesn’t love beanies? They’re so cute and they’ll keep your ears and head warm when it’s super windy out. I have a few different pairs because I like the variety, but I would recommend at least having one black or white one, whichever matches your style more!

Boots: I recommend at least having at least one pair of good boots. I personally prefer a black pair of Doc Martens, but any boot will do! I recommend either having them in the color black or white because those colors would probably match more outfits, and you’ll get more use out of them, but other colors can work too depending on what you like.

Mary Janes: Mary Janes are just so cute. A nice chic pair of platform loafers can add to almost every look. Especially when you pair them with patterned or ruffled socks!

Sneakers: I know everyone probably has a pair of sneakers already, BUT I recommend having a “fashion” pair. What I mean by that is a pair that you keep clean. You don’t necessarily wear them for function, but for fashion instead. Personally, I love a pair of converse or vans, but even a clean pair of white Air Force 1 or white Pumas will do.

Hey, bestie! Thanks for following along with my fall-fit suggestions for this season. I hope you can at least take away one new piece that you can add to your wardrobe. Listen, you’re beautiful and you got this! Let’s have the best Moody Girl Autumn ever!
