Kou Gartei: “Campus Curls and More”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

This week’s campus celebrity is Kou Gartei. Kou is a senior Fashion Merchandising Major from Philadelphia, Pa. Many know her around campus for her friendly and outgoing personality, and her bold fashion statements, but she will soon be known for a lot more. Recently she decided to put one of her best talents to use by offering her services under the name “Campus Curls and More.” Campus Curls and More offers professional hair styling to everyone for a low price. Kou found a passion for hair at an early age when she began braiding hair at just ten years old, by the age of fourteen she got a job braiding hair at a solon, and from there she began perfecting her craft learning new techniques. After high school she decided to further her knowledge at Empire Beauty School. When asked what encouraged her to start “Campus Curls and More”, she answered “I love doing hair, I have always had a natural talent for it. After being at IUP for some time I realized the lack of hair salons that specialize in ethnic hair care. I am a licensed cosmetologist and I decided to make use of that by offering quality hair treatment at a price affordable to college students.”
Kou can be reached for appointments and inquiries at 267-242-1398
