My (Hopeful) Plans for the Summer

With summer break quickly approaching, I thought that instead of turning my attention to study tactics and projects for finals, I would instead talk (dream) about my plans for this summer. Most of these are concerts, but some are events or just places I want to go. This is more of a bucket list, but I can usually get people to get onboard, so with any luck these are my plans.

The Backseat Lovers Concert

I am in love with this band. They are from Utah and they don’t tour this way very often, so I was so excited when I saw they were touring. Not only are they close, they’re going to be right in Pittsburgh!

You may know their song Kilby Girl that got popular recently. I’m praying the recent popularity doesn’t spike their ticket prices, but good for them because everyone should listen to this band!

Jackalope Festival

Coming up quickly in the first week of June is the Jackalope festival. It’s a festival dedicated to skateboarding, bouldering, base jumping and skimboarding. It’s based in Canada and this year is the first time they are bringing it to the US. It’s at Virginia Beach. Tony Hawk and some of his friends and crew are going to be there. It’ll have live music, vendors, food, and demonstrations. To say I’m beyond excited and desperate to go is an understatement – I’m already booking a hotel!

Cavetown Bittersweet daze

Cavetown is a performer from the UK, and doesn’t come to America all that often. I’ve seen videos of them performing live and they just seem like the sweetest person, and the people that go to these concerts are calm, quiet people too. I’m all for a good mosh pit, but sometimes it’s nice to have a quiet moment with live music. The closest one for me is in Cleveland in August and it’s an outdoor pavilion so the vibes will definitely be all there.

The Waterparks Concert

Another event coming up quickly is The Waterparks. They are playing in Pittsburgh in May, right after we get out of school. What a perfect way to start off the summer. I haven’t been to one of their concerts yet, but I hear they are so fun!

Meow Wolf Dallas

I recently went to Denver Colorado (more on that to come) and got the chance to check out Meow Wolf Denver Convergence Station. Safe to say I’m obsessed! It was an amazing experience. Every detail was so carefully planned out down to each piece of art, the sounds, and the lights. With the Meow Wolf in Dallas opening up this summer I’m excited to see what it has in store!

There are so many more little day-trip things that I want to do or things I do every summer like:

  • Go to Erie and sea glass hunt
    • Not only is it fun for all my crow-girls out there (see something shiny and have to have it) but it’s also a way to clean up the beaches
  • Hike!
    • My favorite place is Nelson’s Ledges State park (or the Quarry!)
  • Go to the Cleveand Museum of Art
  • Go Kayaking
  • Visit the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh

It’s clear from this list that come fall, I will be broke. I hope I’ve given you some ideas of things you can do over the summer! If you go to any of these, maybe I’ll see you there. :)
