- Things we hide from the light (knockemout, #2)
by: lucy score -
For my first read of November, this book had an amazing turn around! I was really nervous getting into this book because I loved the 1st one in the series, and I wasn’t a fan of the beginning. I am not someone who stops reading the book all together, so I knew I had to power through the first 100-150 pages or so. And boy am I glad! This book wasn’t my absolute favorite, but it was a great continuation in the series. I am eager to read the 3rd, and final book in this series, and I am very excited to see how the author chooses to end the story.
All of these books have different main characters, but within the same friend group. The familiarity of everyone is great, and it really makes you feel as though you are living vicariously through their lives! After reading this book, I gave it a solid 3.5/5 stars!
Nash Morgan isn’t one to let others know he is struggling, but next door neighbor Lina sees right through his act, and straight into his shadows. But Lina has secrets of her own, ones that could make Nash never forgive her. Their physical attraction is inevitable, but is it enough for these polar opposites?
- the words we keep
by: erin stewart -
Wow. This was my first 5 star read of the month. This book was amazing. It really showed what it is like to struggle with your mental health and feel as though you can’t show it or talk about it. After reading this book, I have an even deeper understanding about how important it is to voice if you are struggling. While it may feel like we are all alone in this world, there is always someone out there that can relate to how you are feeling, and can help you navigate through it.
This author did an amazing job on the mental health aspect of this book, and she was also able to create a cute romance subplot. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a thought-provoking read.
Lily has been desperately trying to keep things together, not just for herself, but for her family as well. It is getting harder and harder for Lily to ignore what she has been feeling, and when Micah enters the picture, it becomes even harder. Micah helps her express her feelings, and process everything she has been through, but also what she is currently going through.
- the lucky list
by: rachael lippincott -
Here is another one of my 5 star reads! This was a cute, fast read that I was able to read in one sitting! The Lucky List is a story about learning not only who you are, but who you love. Within this story, the author did a great job showing awareness for a young girl who realized she was queer, but didn’t know how to embrace it.
Emily and her mom had always been lucky, until her mom’s luck ran out by a cancer diagnosis. Three years after her death, Emily finds a bucket list of items her mom completed before her senior year. It was only appropriate for Emily to try and complete the bucket list before her senior year also. Bringing her not only closer to her mom, but new girl Blake, Emily embarks on a journey she wasn’t expecting.
- watering the soul

Poetry is not for everyone, but it truly is a work of art. Reading this book, which is an entire book combining different poems, readers embark on a journey of self-love. These poems show that sometimes all that people need are love, time, and forgiveness. I was able to read this entire book in one day, but it is one that you can read just a couple of pages at a time when it feels most needed.
Watering the Soul helps heal readers with themes focused on forgiveness, togetherness, gratitude, and equality. Learning how to continue to grow, or regrow you soul is one that I find very important as we grow up and experience different hardships.
- seven dirty secrets
by: natalie d. richards -
I began reading this book a while ago, but was unable to find time to pick it back up again, and eventually I forgot I had it. Luckily, I was able to pick it up off my shelf recently, and finish it! I gave this book a solid 4 out of 5 stars, because it was really good, but I didn’t find it to be excellent. I highly recommend if you are interested in reading thrillers that aren’t too intense!
Natalie Richards is known for her thrillers, and this one definitely threw me for a loop. On Cleo’s 18th birthday, she receives an invitation to a scavenger hunt. Thinking this was a fun activity her friends and brother decided to do for her birthday, she embarks on it with her friend Hope. As they begin searching for the clues and messages left behind, Cleo realizes that they all lead back to her boyfriend Declan. Except Declan drowned in an accident exactly a year ago. Now unsure what to do, Cleo must decide if she is going to finish the scavenger hunt, or allow this person to expose what actually happened that day on the rafting trip.
- five total strangers
by: natalie d. richards -
After finishing Seven Dirty Secrets, I decided to read another book that I had by Natalie D. Richards. In my opinion, this book wasn’t nearly as intense, and I was able to figure out the plot twist before it happened. Because of this, I gave this book a 3.5 star rating because I still really appreciated the storyline and the author’s writing style.
After her flight gets canceled due to a snow storm, Mira finds herself trapped at the airport, until agreeing to carpool with a bunch of strangers who were all on her connecting flight. Already nervous to be in a car full of strangers, Mira starts to notice strange things starting to happen. No one has confessed to anything, but she is almost 100% positive someone is trying to ruin this drive and make sure it ends in a deadly disaster.
- friends, lovers, and the big terrible thing(current read)
by: matthew perry, lisa kudrow -
With the recent loss of beloved actor and comedian Matthew Perry, I found it fitting to start reading his unforgettable memoir. I am not very far into this book, as I am really trying to take my time and soak everything in. Throughout this book I will be able to get insight into Perry’s life outside of being on the big screen. I have high hopes for this book, but I honestly don’t think anything could disappoint me. Being able to have true insight on what a celebrity’s life was like is something that I find great interest in.
- as good as dead (current read..still)
by: holly jackson -
Sadly, I am still trying to get through this book. Being 50% through and absolutely loving the other 2 books in this series, I thought I would fly through this book. I did, until I got to where I am stuck now. Like I said before, I am not one to stop reading a book, but it is extremely hard to keep reading when you get very frustrated with the route the author decided to take the character development. I am hoping I can get around to finishing this book soon so that I can be done with the series and read more of Holly Jackson’s books, but for now I will be continuing to read the other titles on my shelf.
After solving a murder case in her town and creating a podcast channel, Pip was doing pretty well. Until she got a little too involved in her last case, and now it haunts her. She hasn’t been able to stop thinking about how her last case ended, and can’t help but to notice an anonymous person who keeps threatening her online. Eventually it isn’t just online threats that she is finding. Pip has always been able to find people or information that has gone missing, but who will look for her when she is the one to disappear?
