Donuts And Other Proclamations of Love
by: Jared Reck

This book was my first read of October, and I finished it in 2 sittings. It was an adorable read, and it had me constantly telling myself ‘just one more chapter,’ until I realized I had finished the book! Main character Oscar knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life, and that was to finally finish school so that he could help his Grandfather run their food truck. That is until he is forced to spend time with Mary Louise, aka Lou, someone he can’t stand. Forced proximity with Lou sparked an unexpected relationship, and when something unthinkable happens, Oscar is faced with the possibility that nothing about his future is certain.

After reading this book I gave it a solid 4/5 stars, because the start was a tad bit slow, but once I got a little bit into it, I couldn’t put it down. One of the things I loved throughout this book was the forced proximity trope, because it forces the characters to learn things about each other that they wouldn’t have known otherwise, and it makes them question why they hate someone they never truly knew.

If He had been with me
By: Laura nowlin

One thing about this book is that it is going to cry. I am warning you; grab your tissues and get ready. Autumn and Finn are neighbors, which allowed them to begin a friendship right from their childhood. As they grew up together, they relied on each other to navigate the world, through all its’ ups and downs. Sadly as they grew up, they also grew apart. It wasn’t until later in the book that they find their way back to each other, but things aren’t the same, it is never the right time for them. This book takes you through all of the feelings as you read along to the constant years of right person, wrong time. It makes you want to keep reading chapter after chapter to figure out when they will finally end up with each other.

While I enjoyed the storyline of this book, I wasn’t a fan of the face-paced timeline, and the writing style. I gave this book a solid 3/5 stars, because I thought it could have been better. Overall, this book was an adorable read about childhood friends, turned to strangers, back to friends, back to lovers! I loved the mental health representation that was brought out in this book, I thought it was really a great addition to the character and the author did a really good job representing it. Like I said, be prepared with your tissues, this book is definitely a tear jerker.

the seven husbands of evelyn hugo
by: taylor jenkins reid

Wow. This book was truly one of the best books I have ever read. I started this book on the 16th of October and had it finished by the 17th. I could not put it down, I had to keep reading, I had to keep finding out more about this women’s life.

Monique Grant is called to write a magazine report about this Hollywood movie icon named Evelyn Hugo and to give light to her glamorous but scandalous life, as well as her 7 husbands. As Monique gets to learn more about Evelyn, she discovers truth about her life that she wasn’t prepared or expecting to learn. This story takes you through Evelyn’s entire life and it is astonishing, making it seem like Evelyn is a real person, and it makes you forget it’s just a story. This book made me feel like everything was happening right in front of me, like it was my life.

I loved every single aspect of this book, even though it made me shed a few tears, but overall I gave it the 5/5 star review it deserved. Please, please, please take the time to read this book, you will not regret it!

As Good as dead
by: holly jackson

This next book is one that I am currently reading, and I am about 50% through it. ‘As Good As Dead’ is the third and final book in the ‘A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder’ series, which is phenomenal. Holly Jackson is able to create such an amazing storyline that makes you feel like you are in the main characters shoes.

Pip has always gone to police for help with investigations, but they never listen, leaving her to her own devices. She runs a podcast where she talks about the different investigations she learns about, and solves, but now she is the one who is at the center; once again, no one is listening. Who will look for Pip when she’s gone? Who will look for her when she is the one who disappears?

This has been a book that has made me constantly want to keep reading the next chapter, however I am at a slow part in the book so it’s taking me a bit longer than usual to get through it. I am hoping this book picks up again, because it is the final book in the series and I have really high expectations for the ending!

things we hide from the light

Once again, this is one of my current reads. This is the second book in the Knockemout series, following ‘Things We Never Got Over.’ I am only about 20% through this book, and I am not really feeling it so far. The writing is very different from the first book, and it really threw me off when I first started to read it. I am not a person who stops reading books, so eventually I will get around to finishing it, I am just really hoping it picks up speed soon, especially considering I have about 400 more pages to go.
