The Universe Is Speaking To You – And You Should Listen

Do you ever have those moments where you notice something strange? Do you ever notice when two very specific events occur almost simultaneously, that may have nothing to do with each other? Do you ever think something may be too much of a coincidence? News flash: The universe may be trying to send you a sign.

I didn’t really believe in the universe or anything like that until I was a freshman in college. I was raised Catholic but never really felt like I belonged in the religion. I had different views and beliefs that clashed with the church, so I stopped practicing midway through high school. As a junior in college, I am more spiritual and self-conscious led. I believe in the power of the universe and the Earth, and I am but a baby witch. To me, the universe is all around us, communicating with us, and guiding us through our lives.

When I say communicating, I don’t mean literally writing a letter or hearing voices in your head. I mean subtle changes in the environment around you that grab your attention enough to take a second glance. I know most people will just shrug it off, but I think it’s a sign that the universe is trying to tell you something, whether it be good or bad.

When you notice this happening, take note of the strange event and investigate. Examine it as much as possible and then think of what is going on in your life at that moment. Think of any doubts, concerns, or regrets you have. Or you can think positively if the event is targeted that way. Really dig deep and try to find the connection between the events. When you’re looking for a solution to a problem that’s already on your mind, it is easy to interpret what the significance is. But, when you weren’t really looking and happened to stumble upon this message, it’s hard to figure out what the universe is trying to tell you.

Typically, the signs I get are about those around me. Last September, my roommate, her boyfriend, my boyfriend (now ex), and I all went to a local pumpkin patch. We got 4 medium and 4 small pumpkins. We kept these pumpkins in our living room all the way up until winter break. But something strange happened. The pumpkin my ex-boyfriend, let’s call him Chad, picked out starting rotting before all the others. In fact, not a single other pumpkin had rotted when we had to throw them out because we were leaving. This was in late November when I was having second thoughts about my relationship with Chad. I wasn’t sure I was happy with him, and was thinking about breaking up with him, but I didn’t know if it was the right decision. After I saw the awful, rotting pumpkin, I knew what to do. You say it was a coincidence or a bad pumpkin, I say it was a sign. It was the answer I was searching for.

A fun fact about me is that I am notoriously bad at taking care of plants. It is the sole reason my bedroom is filled with fake plants instead of real ones. So, whenever I am gifted a bouquet of flowers they usually die fairly quickly. Although recently I was given a small bouquet of flowers from my roommate’s boyfriend for Galentine’s Day, and they are still alive and thriving! So, I am taking that as a positive note from the universe.

I hope after reading this article you will pay more attention to the environment around you and keep an eye out for these messages from the universe. You never know, it may be trying to tell you something!
