Tips for Tidying Up During Spring Cleaning

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

Diving into spring cleaning can be very overwhelming. Here are some tips to make your yearly decluttering a whole lot more simple!

Use White Vinegar and Old Newspaper to Clean Your Windows.

My dad always used to do this before road trips to ensure that the windshield was completely clean. This method not only clears off the dirt, but also does not leave streaks behind like other cleaners.

Add Baking Soda to Your Laundry.

Adding half a cup of baking soda to your laundry detergent helps boost its cleaning power, and further deodorizes any bad smells coming for your clothes or fabrics.

Use Fabric Softener to Make Vacuuming Pet Fur Easier.

Mix fabric softener and water in a bottle and spray it on your carpet. Wait for the floor to dry, then vacuum. The fabric softener mixture loosens the hair, making it easier for the vacuum to pick it up.

Use Lemon Juice to Remove Grease.

Lemon juice’s acidic nature helps to cut through grease on stoves and countertops. Also, the juice helps to stop mold and other bacteria from forming.

Organize Your Closet by Category.

Diving into decluttering a closet can be very overwhelming. To make it easier, sort it by category. For example, pull out all of your sweaters, decide which to keep or donate, then put them back in the closet, storing them all together.
