The Boys You’ll Meet
Dean
Dean is your typical loyal sweetheart. At first, he appears to be everything you could ever hope for in your first relationship. As time goes on, you realize you’re not as compatible as you originally thought you were. You’re off and on for quite some time. You encourage him to reach his full potential, but is he keeping you from reaching yours? You’re both great people, but there are other guys in college you need to meet first before you can find “the one.”
Jess
Take Jess for example. He’s a little rough around the edges, but once you get to know him, he’s a big softie with all the same interests as you. There’s never a dull moment, whether you’re talking books, pop culture, or food. Don’t rely too much on him, he’s got a lot of growing up to do. That bad boy attitude may seem hot now but it will wear off fast when he shows up late to Friday night family dinners.
Logan
Here’s an example of those few and far between JCU preppies. He’s got the looks, the money, the posse, and he’s got his choice of girls. Be careful! If you manage to win his heart, he’ll treat you like a queen, but he’ll always be the life of a party. Life with The Logan is a constant roller coaster, and you know what they say: what goes up must come down.
The Importance of Coffee
“Oh, I can’t stop drinking the coffee. I stop drinking the coffee, I stop doing the standing, walking, and words putting into sentence doing.” These are the wise words of our favorite mom Lorelai Gilmore. We all need coffee. You don’t even have to drink your coffee black, you just need it. Whether it’s Einstein’s, Starbucks, or Luke’s don’t hold back on that caffeinated, miracle-working beverage.
Stay Close with Your Mom
It doesn’t matter if you’ve always been best friends with your mom or if your relationship is just starting to mature, those weekly phone calls home really make you appreciate your mom. You love it when she comes for Homecoming weekend just as you love going home to eat with her at your go-to local restaurant. Your mom is important, so don’t even think about letting yourselves fall apart. Even through the fights, your mom will always have your back.
Plans Change
JCU might not have been your first choice, and we totally get that. Rory’s dream plans for Harvard fell through when she fell in love with Yale. You probably had a situation similar to this, and now you can’t think of being at that other school. Rory teaches us a lesson about after-college plans when she takes a risk with The New York Times Fellowship and doesn’t get it. It’s not the end of the world for Rory because she gets a better job reporting on the campaign trail of a presidential candidate. Talk about awesome. Don’t get too overwhelmed if things don’t go as planned. Let life do its thing.
The Friends You’ll Have
Paris (The Friend You Think You’ll Hate)
You meet her and you can’t stand her. She’s the Paris. Whether it’s because you’re in constant competition or she’s just too intense for you, every time you get thrown together for school or extracurriculars it is an exhausting feat. However, somewhere along the line she warms up and you realize that she may be intense but she’s actually quite loveable. You’ll learn the best ways to handle her and you may even get her to relax a little. Enjoy the ride, this girl might end up being your roommate next year.
Lane (The Friend You Always Had and Will Have)
This girl has been with you through it all: your first crush, your first kiss, your first breakup, everything. She knows things about you that no one else does. You’ve been friends forever and you’ve already promised to be each other’s maids of honor and maybe godmother to your first born. You are always there for each other when she needs a place to crash for a few days (weeks) or your love life’s gotten a little too complicated to handle on your own. This girl is there. You may fight but you’ve gotten this far, you’re not going to be able to get rid of her that easy.
Small Town/Campus
Here at JCU, we have our very own Stars Hollow. Everyone knows everyone. You’re going to know everyone’s business. You might even have to choose sides by wearing ribbons during breakups. Sometimes it drives you nuts that it seems like you have no privacy, but that’s half the fun. Remember that time you woke up at someone’s house on Sunday morning after a formal? So does everyone else. Don’t sweat it. We wouldn’t want it any other way.
Be like Paris.
