Say hello to John Carroll’s Brooke McQuiin!
When we say that Brooke is a star, we aren’t just talking about on the lacrosse field! Brooke isn’t just an athlete; she is also the president of the French club, a sorority sister, and one of the sweetest people on campus!
Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Strongsville, Ohio
Major: IBLC and French—I chose this because I love the French language and the International Business program seemed like a perfect fit for me.
Favorite Spot on Campus: My favorite spot on campus is probably the chapel inside Rodman Hall. I’ve only been in there a couple times (mainly because I don’t know if you’re really allowed to just go in there, but I’ve snuck in a couple times to pray the rosary), but I think it’s a hidden gem on campus because not a lot of people know it’s there and it’s so beautiful.
Campus Involvements: I’m a member and captain on the lacrosse team. I am also the president of French Club. I recently joined a sorority – Kappa Alpha Theta. I’m a member of the newly formed IBLC Club, and I try and do random weekly service whenever I can fit it in.
Why Did You Choose John Carroll: I chose JCU because it is a Catholic university where I can continue to grow in my faith. It has a very good business program and language department, which is what I knew I wanted to major in. I liked that I am able to play lacrosse, but I’m also able to join other clubs and still study abroad at some point, which is something I might not have been able to do at another university. It’s pretty close to home for me, which at first wasn’t a reason I chose JCU, but I’ve come to really appreciate the short distance from home.
What Advice Would You Give to Freshmen to Make the Best Of College: My advice would be to get involved in something! There is so much to do at JCU that you will definitely find something you will love. Being a part of a group or club and being involved on campus is the best way to fall in love with JCU. It’s how you’ll find yourself and your best friends.
