Everyone talks about how going off to college is a major step in relationships because unless you both stay close, or go to the same college, that begins a long distance relationship.
However, no one seems to talk as much about the long distance FRIENDSHIPS you acquire. I spent my Freshman and Sophomore year of high school in Youngstown, Ohio, making some of the best friends a girl could ask for. My Junior year I moved back to Philadelphia, leaving my best friends 5 and a half hours away from me. Fast forward 2 more years and we are spread further by the colleges we chose to go to.
You take for granted those nights you sit around with your friends doing nothing when you find yourself during those boring nights in college without them. Sure, you miss your long distance boyfriend or girlfriend, but nothing beats staying up all night, laughing until your stomach hurts, making some of the best memories with your best friends. This doesn’t mean you can’t make new besties at school because at a time like this you’re constantly around new people and making new friends. People say the friends you make in college are the ones that last forever, but if you’re lucky 1 or 2 or even a few may stick by your side from high school and through it all. Hold on to those.
At the end of the day, college can get hard, and get lonely at times, always remember that the friendships that are made to last will always find a way back.
