MY MOST ANTICIPATED HORROR MOVIES FOR THE REST OF 2022

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

As an extreme horror fan, I am often disappointed by the lack of quality of horror movies released throughout the year. However, 2022 has been a great year so far for horror movies, and it seems that even better ones are lined up. Here are my most anticipated horror movies for the rest of 2022:

  1. BARBARIAN (September 9th, 2022)

This film stars Georgina Campbell, who won the 2015 BAFTA Award for best actress for her role in Murdered by My Boyfriend, and Bill Skarsgård, who is most known for playing Pennywise the Clown. Barbarian follows Georgina Campbell as Tess Marshall, who rented an Airbnb, but when she gets there, it has been seemingly double booked since Keith (Bill Skarsgård) is already there. The trailer does not reveal much about the plot but yet it induced anxiety and provoked an atmosphere of tension. I believe this is going to be one of the best horror movies of this year.

2. HELLRAISER (October 7th, 2022)

Hellraiser is a remake of the 1987 classic of the same name. Not much is known about the film quite yet, but images of the new Pinhead have been released. Pinhead is now female in this remake, played by Jamie Clayton who is best known for starring in the Netflix series Series 8. This is actually true to the novel that Hellraiser is based on – The Hellbound Heart. Overall, this will hopefully be the refresh the Hellraiser franchise desperately needs.

3. HALLOWEEN ENDS (October 14, 2022)

Halloween Ends is the final installment in the three-part return of Michael Myers. Jamie Lee Curtis will once again, and presumably for the last time, reprise the role of Jamie Lee Curtis. From the trailers, it seems like Halloween Ends will be a bloody fun time. I personally enjoyed the previous two films, and I believe this one will be just as good or possibly better than those.

4. WENDELL & WILD (October 28, 2022)

Wendell & Wild is an animated horror film coming to Netflix this October. The film is produced by Jordan Peele, who recently directed Nope, and directed by Henry Selik, who you may know for directing small movies such as The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline. The film will follow two demon brothers who are played by Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key. This production is incredibly exciting because it has been a long while since we have seen a good horror comedy animated movie.
