As the school year comes to an end, you may be feeling overwhelmed and unorganized — I know I am. After being a student for a long time now, I think I have nearly mastered the best tips and tricks for staying organized during the school year (especially during stressful times like now).
One thing about me is I’m a planner person. I have gone through every planner imaginable to find the best one. This year, I came across Papier’s Idyll Daily Planner. The first thing that drew me to it was all the different cover options and the fact you can customize it. For example, mine says, “Daily Planner Brynn Elizabeth.” Secondly, I was looking for a planner that has a section for everything from daily meals to weekly goals. The Idyll Planner is undated, so you could use it tomorrow or wait until midterms when you have more to organize. Lastly, I love how there is one page per day.
My mom organized my folders and notebooks by color when I first started elementary school and I still do it to this day. For example, if math is blue, your folder, notebook, and anything else related to math should be blue. Sometimes I go as far as a color-coordinating my notes! For example, I will take History notes in purple all semester and English notes in red. I don’t know the science behind it, but this seems to help me remember my notes better. (You can even use those same colors when writing in your planner!)
If you use Google, I highly recommend putting sites in folders and in alphabetical order. I made a “Jefferson” folder, which is my college, and starred all the websites I use often for classes and such. It makes everything so easy to find.
One of the best things I have done to be organized for school is buying a bunch of small cosmetic bags, and putting different things for my backpack in each, rather than just throwing everything together. For example, one pouch could be menstrual products, another pouch can be to freshen up (perfume, deodorant, brush), and another can be chargers, etc. This life hack makes it so easy to find something when I need it.
Keep a spot in your room/house/apartment where you put your school stuff every day. Once you get in the habit of putting your stuff in the same spot, you will never lose anything. It sounds like a silly tip, but it really does become muscle memory.
Thank you for reading! I hope you found this helpful, and best wishes while finishing the school year!
