40 Things I’d Rather Do Than Study for Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

It’s that time of the year where all of us are cramming knowledge into our heads for the impending doom that is finals. We all hate studying, and because of this we tend to procrastinate. So, here are some things I’d rather do than study for my finals, because procrastination is way more fun.

  1. Go on a hike.

  2. Sit on the Quad.

  3. Call an old friend I haven’t talked to in months.

  4. Scroll through all my old pictures.

  5. Reminisce on the times I didn’t have to study for finals.

  6. Talk to my roommates about the world.

  7. Go on a walk. Away from the notes on my desk.

  8. Eat a whole pint of ice cream.

  9. Or just drink a whole bottle of wine.

  10. Cry.

  11. Stress bake 4 dozen cookies.

  12. Stress eat those 4 dozen cookies.

  13. Go to the gym.

  14. Make a fire Spotify playlist.

  15. Buzzfeed quizzes. Because I need to know what food describes my personality.

  16. Ask Siri what kinda job I can get without a degree.

  17. Binge a whole TV series on Netflix.

  18. Learn to use chopsticks.

  19. Then learn “Chopsticks” on the piano.

  20. Tie-Dye a shirt.

  21. After tie-dying that shirt Google “how to get colored dye out of carpet.”

  22. Survive the zombie apocalypse.

  23. Online shop.

  24. Clean my room. While I’m at it, clean the entire apartment.

  25. Balance a spoon on my nose.

  26. Clean makeup brushes.

  27. Go to Cat’s Cradle.

  28. Play Foosball.

  29. Wax my legs.

  30. Sit in a freezing stream.

  31. Dye my hair.

  32. Distract my friends from studying for their finals.

  33. Post on social media about how I should be studying for finals.

  34. Make a Pinterest board.

  35. Assemble IKEA furniture.

  36. Look up plane ticket prices to be able to fly away from my finals.

  37. Do my laundry.

  38. Blow up 50 balloons without a pump.

  39. Go meet the noisy neighbors.

  40. Write a whole article about ways to procrastinate studying for finals.

Maybe you’ll try some of these things and it’ll give you some motivation to actually get down to business and kick butt on those finals!
