To those who came to JMU thinking it wouldn’t get too cold because it is in Virginia, I am sorry to tell you that the winters here in Harrisonburg can get downright icy. To help you get through these fast approaching freezing days, check out some of the coolest trends in winter coats!
1. Pea Coat: Pea coats are great staple wardrobe pieces, and are perfect coats to transition you from the brisk fall days to the colder winter. You can find pea coats in a variety of colors and patterns.
2. Parka: Walking to that 8 a.m. class across campus can be especially rough in the winter. Parkas are great coats to help keep you warm and cozy during even the coldest days.
3. Military: The military-esque trend is still in fashion and works great in winter wear.
4. Toggle Wool Coat: Wool coats can be found in an assortment of styles. If you’re looking for a more unique and fun look, try a wool coat with toggles instead of the traditional buttons.
5. Weather Resistant: Here in Harrisonburg it’s possible to get anything from a light flurry to a storm that dumps inches of snow on JMU’s campus. This being said, having a weather -proof coat can come in handy when you need to keep dry and warm during those snowy days.
