As the days start getting colder and the school workload starts getting heavier, it can be a challenge to enjoy the season while stuck inside studying. To bring the vibes inside, here are my top five picks for songs that give off fall energy.

“Sweater Weather” by The NeighborHood

This indie-rock tune came out in 2013, but resurfaces for me each year once the weather hits below 60°. This song is sure to get you into your sweater-wearing feels, so don’t be shy! Get out your favorite sweater, grab a good book, and enjoy the chilling lyrics of Jesse Rutherford.

“Roslyn” by Bon Iver and St. Vincent

As heard in The Twilight Saga: New Moon movie, this song has the power to transport you to the town of Forks, Washington where even summer feels like fall with the misty air, trees as tall as skyscrapers, and townspeople who look as if they have never seen sunlight. After listening to this song, you might even feel tempted to rewatch the whole Twilight saga!

“Autumn in New York” by Billie Holiday

For all the jazz lovers out there who fantasize about taking a stroll in New York City at the peak of the autumn season, feeling the leaves make a soft crunch beneath your shoes, this song is for you! Whether you’re a fan of jazz or not, the heartwarming voice of Billie Holiday will be sure to bring you warmth during this chilly season.

“Sparks” by Coldplay

Picture yourself sitting in front of a bright campfire, sparks flying everywhere and flames rising. You’re suddenly overcome with a rush of nostalgia as someone starts strumming this 2000 classic by Coldplay. This song is sure to have you feeling content, reminiscent, melancholy, or maybe a mix of all of the above!

“Dark Red” by steve Lacy

Reaching its height of popularity in 2021, this 2017 track from indie artist Steve Lacy had TikTok users in a chokehold with its smooth bass beats and charming lyrics. From the cover of the EP this song appears on alone, you will be itching to pull out every flannel and beanie you have ever owned.
