As I was casually browsing different streaming apps for some spooky content, I came across a movie called The Love Witch. Naturally, my witchy self was intrigued and clicked on it. It looked very familiar, I was almost certain that I had seen gifs and twitter posts in relation to it before, but I never knew what it actually was. As I started to watch it, I realized what a masterpiece of a movie it is.

At first, I was under the impression that it was a vintage film (undoubtedly the 60s based on the Technicolor production and costume design), until all of a sudden a 2009 Jeep Patriot appeared in the background. I had to pause and take a double-take, immediately looking up the year in which this movie was produced. As it turned out, The Love Witch was a 2016 film made in the style and honor of the 1960s. My interest was peaked even more.

The movie follows a young witch, Elaine, as she in search of love. However, her potions and spells may make men too in love with her. Elaine is sexy and empowering, the perfect character to help awaken your inner sorceress this spooky season. Although the end of the movie might leave you slightly shook (no spoilers ;) ), it is a simplistic plotline that still captivates you in it’s nostalgic 60s style.

Strikingly feminist, and aesthetically captivating, this movie is a must-watch. Be sure to get comfy, grab some popcorn (and maybe light a few candles) to watch this sultry, spooky movie.
