It’s late at night, you’re heading home from a night out, and all of a sudden the munchies hit you. Yeah, you can go home and order pizza or get your roommate to take you to Cook Out or Taco Bell but what you really want is some good, affordable, home cooked breakfast food. Well look no further because JMU has a Breakfast Bus. That’s right a purple and gold bus that serves breakfast, LATE NIGHT (and early mornings).Â
Â
Enter in this cozy bus for an experience like never before. Their menu is composed of various breakfast foods ranging from home fries to donuts to fried chicken. That’s right you can get chicken and waffles at 1 am or really whatever your hungry heart desires. The sky is the limit when it comes to the combination of food on this truck.Â
This is not your typical food truck. You can walk inside and take a seat inside enjoy the nice cozy diner feel in the morning but as soon as the sunsets and the nightlife comes alive the bus turns into a hip new hangout for all the party and bar-goers. Music blasting and friendly service this bus is the place to be after a night out.
Christian Hefner is the owner of this brilliant idea. What started out as a COB 300 idea came to fruition Fall 2017. Professors doubted him saying that this idea would never come to life so he set out to prove them wrong and he did just that.Â
Â
What people might not know is that this bus features recipes from the 7 people who work on the bus. If you’ve ever been to The Little Grill Collective downtown they operate in a similar fashion. Even better is their ingredients are local featuring products that you can get from the Farmers Market. They even have bagels from Mr. J’s and donuts from Strites. Right now the bus is in the midst of perfecting their coffee brew and it should be ready by the beginning of October.Â
If you haven’t checked this place out you’re missing out on a unique experience.
Â
So what are you waiting for? Whether you’re heading to your 8 am and need a pick me up or coming home from a night out head to the Breakfast Bus located on Port Republic at the Liberty gas station and treat yourself to good food and great company.Â
