No-carve Pumpkin Decorating

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

Here are 10 of the easiest pumpkin decorating ideas, because carving pumpkins is so overrated

1. Glitter stem

Paint the pumpkin with your choice of color paint and then add glue and glitter to the stem.

2. Tissue paper and mod podge

Cut tissue paper into your desired pattern, hold it on the pumpkin, and use a brush to go over it with mod podge.

3. Lace it up

Using glue or pushpins cover your pumpkin in your favorite lace patterns.

4. Make it simple

Use buttons to create festive words or phrases.

5. Metallic

Spray the pumpkin with your choice of metallic spray paint and then freehand letters, names, or patterns. Feel free to use stencils.

6. Color block

With painters tape, section off parts of the pumpkin to create lines.

7. Doily

Using paper doily as stencil, take black paint and make the pattern.

8. Newspaper or book pages

With whole pages of a book or news paper cover the pumpkin using mod podge to keep it in place.

9. Ombre

Using a sponge, brush, or your fingers paint the pumpkin top to bottom with how ever many colors you want, making sure to mix colors.

10. Patterns

Use glitter, paint, buttons, beads, markers, or whatever you’d like, to make patterns.
