Top Five Spring Dress Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

One of the best parts about the approaching springtime warmth is the new dress trends we can rock while going to class, out on the weekends, or to your spring formal. Below are some of the most popular dress trends this spring, all within a collegiette’s budget – under fifty bucks!

One-Shoulder

A major benefit of a one-shoulder dress is that you get the support of a sleeve or strap, while still being able to have a sexy pop of skin. According to Cosmo’s May 2012 issue, 84% of the 500 men polled love the one shoulder dress because it plays up a flirty part of a woman’s body. Asos has a great collection of one-shoulder dresses, like this one for only 20 dollars!

Color Block
From Jessica Alba to Michelle Obama, color block dresses can be seen everywhere this spring. They are perfect for a pop of color, while still keeping it simple. Whether your dress has five colors or just two, this trend is perfect for every occasion. You can find tons of color block styles at Lulus, like this one for only 37 dollars.

Peplum
What’s the best part of this flirty layer? It works for almost any body type and is available in a variety of styles. You can wear the traditional peplum, layered all the way around, have it just on the sides, or even at different lengths. For 41 dollars, this dress from Lulus has a unique asymmetrical peplum that will sit perfectly on your hips.

High-low

This unique look will have everyone’s heads turning your way with the shorter-in-front and the longer-in-back skirt. These dresses show just the right amount of skin, while still providing adequate coverage. When you pair it with a cute pair of wedges to balance out the long skirt in back, any body type will look great in this dress. Check out Forever 21 for a dress like this one at only 35 dollars!

Bandage
Bandage dresses are perfect for a night on the town when you want to flaunt what you got!  More on the tighter side, bandage dresses accentuate your curves and are great at showing off your body. They come in a variety of colors and styles and would look amazing paired with some pumps! Try this 45 dollar sparkly bandage look from Bebe!
